There is no greater joy in Aro's existence than accruing power and collecting more members to the Volturi guard with substantial gifts that can benefit his coven. One of his many "prized possessions" Jane was always so helpful, so loyal, and not because he ordered Chelsea to assist. He believed Jane and her brother were so loyal because they felt a debt of gratitude for saving them centuries ago from being burnt at the stake for witchcraft.
Recalling moments such as those also made Aro's day. Perhaps it was his own little ploy to boost his own ego on those days he felt a trite down. Perhaps he is simply a megalomaniac.
Sitting slightly cockeyed in the center throne in the large, domed atrium, amongst his fellow leaders Marcus and Caius -- though he was well aware it was unspoken knowledge he was readily considered the overall leader -- he leaned more onto his right side while the fingers of his left hand trilled along their side of the throne's armrest.
Before him knelt a woman who had crimson eyes that mirrored his shade and a look of sheer insanity in them; not insanity from a mental retardation, but of desperation. She was pleading and had she the ability to evoke tears, they would probably be flowing like rivers down her porcelain cheeks. Her pleading begged of a simple request; to simply be killed and put out of her misery.
"We do not make it a practice to end the lives of those like us without just cause. Just because your mate has been destroyed, it is not our responsibility to end you."
"Please, I want nothing more than to die. I have no abilities to attribute to your coven. I am not worth anything. I have no one else to continuing existing for. There is no point. Please, I beg of you. End me."
Aro sighed an unnecessary breath and looked from his left to his right, sharing glances with Marcus and Caius. Neither seemed to care if this female vampire before them existed or not.
"Well," Aro began, springing up from his seat with the litheness of a cat and stepping down toward her. "It would seem my friends are quite aloof where your fate in concerned. And you are quite correct; you hold nothing of value to us." Placing a hand on either side of her head, he cupped her face and smiled soothingly down at her as she looked up at him with imploring red eyes. Quite randomly he placed a kiss upon her forehead and then stood straight but held his gaze with hers. "May you find your lover wherever it is your soul ends up."
And with one quick twist, her head was ripped from her neck and resting in his hand with a small grimace of pain upon her lips. He tossed her head to the ground as he snapped his fingers for Felix and Demetri to finish off ripping the beheaded vampire apart and take her remains away to be burnt.
Turning around on the heels of his feet, he looked back toward Marcus and Caius with a smile of delight and prospect dancing from his lips as he clasped his hands together in front of his chest.
"So, what is on the agenda for the rest of this evening?"

The death was one she had seen and seen many times. It was a judgment, a removal of one of their kind who could cause problems or who already had. It was the cardinal rule of their kind to remain hidden in the shadows, a reality of the Myths their kind lived within.
Stepping forward as Aro turned his back Theora spoke lightly letting her Greek accent lilt her words. “Sir?” She said stepping towards the raised stage area that held the thrones of her, and all Vampires, leaders. “Its about the Cullen Coven.”
To her, and many with in the castle walls, the Cullen Coven was nothing but a growing problem that threatened to bring their whole kind out of the shadows. That of course was something Theora was willing to kill to prevent. Since the incident on St Marcus’ day with the idiot boy Edward the whole castle had been a buzz about his Human lover. Disgusting and wrong, was her own stance on it.

Aro's eyes shifted toward Theora before his face did. Turning his body fully and completely in her direction, he stood erect, pressing his fingertips together; his palms inches apart. Slowly, he craned his neck slightly forward and stared at her.
"What of our dear friend Carlisle and his family?"
He was still greatly intrigued by their way of life and their gifts. Mostly the human girl Bella. A curious case she was. Able to block everyone else's gifts without even trying or meaning to.
"Do you see something of importance?"

Theora watched Aro turn to her. His body was that of a born leader, the majestic stance and view about him was something that commanded respect. She respected him and all their leaders not only for the power and the majesty, but also the fear their action eluded to. As his eyes fixed on hers Theora tried not to waiver.
Carlisle, she knew he’s spent time with their leaders though it was before her time. Theora, in vampire terms, was new to the life and newer to the service, however she new of him by word of mouth and history. “His coven still reside in the town of Forks in the Americas. I see them. He’s a Doctor in a Hospital. Playing at being Human.” She sneered as she had done with every passing sight of him.
To Theora the Cullen Coven mocked their race, they threw dirt in the face of what they truly were. Pretending to be human disgusted her.
“His children” She spoke the word mockingly for although many of their kind looked to their creator as a parent she believed the Cullen family took it a little beyond the realms of logic. “attend school still.”
“And their pet.” she said with a dramatic pause as she commanded the attention of all other in the room. Everyone within the castle knew of the Human pet that associated with the Cullens. They knew of the loved, the disgusting love, that Edward had for the weak human. Theora felt the same as Jane, that the girl should be killed. “She’s still with them…Still human.” She said holding her head high as if giving a grand prize in her knowledge.

Aro was rather still as Theora began to reply, recounting what she was seeing. His eyes wandered away for her for a moment as he nodded faintly. "Yes, I am well aware of Carlisle and his coven. I saw all that from young Edward when he was here. I see no need in giving us a discertation on how it is they come to live. It is a choice I have never understood, myself, but makes me impressed by their will power." His eyes became wider at the wonder of it all. "The pain they must suffer on a daily basis being in that close a proximity to humans and not obey their natural instincts. It is a curious case. Curious, indeed."
On the mention of Bella being still human, Aro's wonderment faded and his facial expression grew slightly darker.
"Well, this is not a happy predicament. I believe we were fair in our judgement and letting them go with a warning I am rather disappointed in them not heeding. Alice, the one with visions of the future, did see Bella as we are, or rather as they are."
Aro began to mull over several thoughts. He turned and looked to Marcus who seemed aloof as usual, then to Caius who seemed ready to kill anything that moved if they so looked at him the wrong way. His own eyebrow raising a milimeter in jest over that last inspection of his fellow leader, he turned back more toward Theora.
"It is quite difficult, deciding what should be done. On one hand, they are toying with our good will, laughing in our faces by not being done with changing her already. It is as good as them saying they are not planning on changing her, something that will not be tolerated at all. On the other hand, Bella would make a formidable vampire. Of that I am most positive. I am almost tempted in having her brought here and turning her myself. Though, her scent as seen through Edward's thoughts was most delicious. I doubt I'd have the control to stop once I've started. And what a waste it would be."
Narrowing his eyes, he approached Theora more, standing almost on top of her.
"In your sight, can you see young Edward and see his face, read his expressions as he looks upon Bella. If they are not together, keep searching until they are together, and then tell me what you see on his face, if you see whether or not he anticipates changing her within the coming weeks or what he is waiting for..."

Theora didn’t find their diet curious, she found it disgusting and against their very nature not that she voiced this to Aro. Going against their leaders was never wise, even to voice a different opinion could bring trouble. She remained silent letting her words sink in, her mind replayed images of what she’d seen as she ‘watched’ them.
The mention of Bella’s name had the same effect the sight of her had had on Theora’s mind, it darkened the room and the mood. She nodded, the Volturi had been more then fair and now the Cullen clan were throwing it back at them. “You were fair and just, My Lord.” Theora said politely. She knew it had been hard for Jane to stand by and let them leave, she remembered the angelic demon’s mood on that day. “She isn’t one of them now, that is all I see.” Theora hated the limit of her gift, she would love to have the foresight like the Cullen girl, but that was not her blessing. Watching their leader’s Theora wondered what would be done and what they thought of the matter she had brought to them. It wasn’t in the Volturi’s nature to give second chances.
Though he spoke to her she knew he was not seeking an answer or a comeback. His words required no answer, Theora merely looked and nodded. She hated the idea of the human been brought there to be turned or not. Such an act would only bring the whole Cullen Clan and trouble to their home that they could all do without.
As he came closer Theora remained still her eyes watching him with awe of a servant to a master. “Sir…My gift isn’t always so clear. When she’d around it feel cloudy…” She said admitting another limitation though one Bella seemed to hold and lord over all their kind with blessings. “I see the pain and conflict he has, but this is how he always it as if he won’t let himself enjoy her company or the thoughts of her.” She knew her words could cause anger, but she wasn’t refusing her task merely admitting the limitations of her work.

Aro's eyes narrowed slightly as he listened to Theora's speech pattern for anything he should be reading into, any lines to be read between. There was nothing out of the ordinary in her tone but honesty, no signs of disobedience. "Well, we have already settled that dear Bella is a conundrum, that is certain. Her potential is great for when she becomes a vampire. And I say when, because she will become one of us, or it will be her death otherwise." Then as an afterthought, amusement entered his expression, his eyes seemed to lighten considerably. "Technically, it will end her death either way. To become a vampire her human life must end, but should she not be changed...her death will come and what a waste of an enigmatic and surely astounding gift."
Turning slightly, he threw up one hand as to silence any further comments before he finished his train of thought. "We shall give the Cullens a few more weeks. I saw how tantilizing Bella's scent was to young Edward and to be around her so constantly and feel so strongly as he does toward her, while not giving in to the primal urge to devour her, as it were, is no small feat. And Alice did see Bella as one of them. However, I do not believe she is aware that I too know that her visions have the possibility in changing, as our futures are never written in stone. There are many paths we can take."
Aro turned back to Theora. "Keep watch. In two weeks' time, if Bella has not been changed, let us know then and we shall dispatch some guards to see the deed through. Or, in that time frame, should her change take place, also inform us, for I would greatly like to send Bella birthday present."
