Character Basics
Name: Diana Persephone Hardwick
Nickname: Di, Sephy
Age: 18/ 446
Appearance
Looks: Quite short (5' 1") with very pale skin, always looking as though she's cold. She's average size/ weight, and fairly plain-looking, for a vampire. She has long, dark hair that she normally wears in a ponytail or braid, or leaves down, and has very dark eyes that rarely change from their natural colour, only when she's hungry, when they turn to a hungry black. She is surprisingly young-looking for her biological age, and can usually pass for 15 or 16 when necessary, though her manner and intelligence help her pass as much older when needed.
Scars, tattoos, other marks: she has no particularly noticeable marks, apart from an odd set of four scars at the base of her thumb which she got while still human.
Portrayed by: Summer Glau

History: Diana knows very little about herself, which, ironically is due to one of the few things she does know about herself: that she had a very poor memory as a human. As a result, most of her human life is a blur until age 9. She remembers the basics, but very little else. She was born in 1562, a niece of Elizabeth Hardwick, Countess of Shrewsbury, and named after her mother's favourite Greek goddesses, the goddesses of the moon and the underworld.
At age 9, she was visiting her aunt and her aunt's friend Mary (formerly Queen of Scots) when Mary injured her ankle. Diana, having learned herbal medicine from an herbwoman who lived near her, quickly made a poultice, wanting to help the lady. However, at the time, such knowledge was considered the work of Satan and Mary immediately accused Diana of being a witch, forcing Elizabeth (Bess) to throw Diana out of the house and to write to the girl's parents and tell them of what had happened.
When Diana arrived home, her parents sent her to the local church to be heard by a trial who, after hearing that she could 'drive out demons without the blessing of the Church' and could 'heal those inflicted with mortal wounds by the mere laying on of hands, without the aid of medicinal knowledge', sentenced her to be burned to death as a witch. She was sent home under house arrest but escaped into the woods nearby and made her way south, toward London, where she lived in secret for the next 8 years. At age 17, she was spotted by a visiting clergyman who recognised her from her hometown and immediately alerted the local authorities to her presence.
She fled to the countryside again where, one year later, after having managed to survive by hunting and foraging for food, she was found by a local coven of vampires, almost frozen to death, and turned into one of them. The only thing she misses about being a human is the ability to live among them and treat them with the herbs she is so familiar with. Because of being shunned for the simple act of trying to help her aunt's friend, she has avoided humans and vampires alike, feeling vulnerable because her greatest desire was taken from her so easily.
The new millenium found her following a sort of nomadic lifestyle, wandering around North America after having spent the last 400 years in Europe. She has taught herself to somewhat control her hunger for blood while around humans and while she still drinks human blood, she has become a sort of avenger for humans who have been mistreated as she was, and feeds primarily on those who harm their fellow humans for fun. This policy, while fairly exclusive, has left her rather cynical, due to the fact that she has never found herself short of food.
After centuries of being alone, she has decided to try her hand at being a normal teenager and has moved to Forks, partly because the weather is more to her taste (she loves the rain) and partly because she has heard that other vampires live there with minimal trouble.
She currently lives alone in a small house on the outskirts of town.
