{Timeline: Post-BD}
Ben smiled with a closed mouth as his mother pulled him in once again for a tight hug and kissed him on the head. He had to admit that the ferocity of his own responding hug had become a little lack lustre after the twentieth time. Then again, he could forgive his parents for being overly sentimental – their son flying the nest to begin a new life in a town that wasn’t Forks. It didn’t seem like two minutes ago since graduation, since Bella and Edward’s bizarre wedding, and yet all his things were packed up into his car.
“You’ll be a good boy, won’t you?” Ben’s mother asked, also for the twentieth time, though this time she didn’t crush him to her once more. “And you’ll take care of Angela, won’t you?”
The answering smile that appeared on Ben’s face in response to the mention of his girlfriend’s name was enough to answer his mum that, but he nodded at her all the same. “Of course I will, Mom. On both counts. I promise. And I’ll call every weekend, remember to brush my teeth and I’ll even get Ange to teach me how to boil an egg, just in case she has to go away for a field trip or something.”
He smiled his crooked smile at his mother; the smile she had seen him use almost everyday since he was six weeks old, the smile that she made him look slightly pre-pubescent. With a quivering lip Mrs. Cheney gave her son a last kiss and propelled him to his half-stacked car.
Needing no further encouragement, Ben climbed into the driver’s seat, fixed his Neil Gaimen autographed card and sand timer to his rear view mirror and drove off towards his girlfriend’s house. He was a little earlier than he said he was going to be, but judging by how long it had taken his parents to say their goodbyes, that could only be a good thing. Plus, any extra time he got to spend with Angela was always a bonus in his eyes.
As soon as the car was safely parked in a position from which it would be easy to load up, Ben hopped out and almost ran to the familiar front door. He knocked on it briskly, only considering after that he could be interrupting some family thing. An unsure, anxious look graced his face as he waited for an answer. He really hoped she would forgive him for any intrusion.

Angela was up in her room gathering the last of her bags together when she looked over and saw one of the twins, dumping out her suitcase full of clothes all over her floor. “Noooooo” She said cringing as she watched the clothes tumbling out and her brother laughing and then running away knowing he’d be in trouble. “Why now…Ben’s going to be here any minute…” She said to herself going over to the suitcase and putting it upright with a frown. She didn’t want to make Ben wait for her, or to look like she wasn’t ready.
Angela heard the knocking on the door and her mother shouting from the kitchen. “Ben’s here Angela!” Angela left the mess in her room and headed down the stairs. “I got it, Mom!” She said running to the door, her hair a mess, and her brothers now shouting as they played in the other room. She wouldn’t be surprised if when Ben saw and heard what was on the other side of this door, he ran, getting out as soon as he could. But she smiled knowing they were going to be leaving together today, after having decided to go to college together, as a couple. Bella and Edward had done the same, but they went to the extreme of marrying first. Angela just hoped that she and Ben could remain together, even once their college experience began, and after he met new girls who might be more interesting, or prettier than she was.
She took took a deep breath as she opened the door, the sight of her boyfriend making her smile instantly. “Ben!” She greeted him, holding the door open. “Come on in…if you dare” She joked. “I’m sorry, I’m not ready yet, little monster number 1 decided to undo the packing I did earlier just before you came”

Ben couldn’t help but unleash his sunny grin as the door opened to allow him entrance and revealed none other than his own girlfriend. He stepped through the door with an easy confidence that came with it almost being a second home to him. Ever since they had begun their relationship they had been frequent fixtures at each other’s houses, so the screams of boyish voices coming from somewhere upstairs did not surprise him in the least. As he passed her stepping through the threshold, he extended an arm and hugged her to him, bouncing up to his toes to give her a kiss. A lot of people thought the height thing was strange, but he had never found it to be, he would probably find it odd to date a shorter girl now.
“Hello sweetheart,” he said with a cheeky wink. Well, an almost-cheeky-wink, he wasn’t very good at it, so it was more of a blink really, but it was an effort that was quite often made. His brown eyes turned upwards as a particularly loud thump on the twins’ bedroom floor reverberated through the ceiling. He rubbed his hand gently down her back. “Don’t worry about it, we’ve got plenty of time. Mom was getting a little… momish. I promised you’d teach me how to boil an egg… I have a feeling she’s going to check up on it…”
He laughed a little, though there was something about the dimpled expression that made him look serious for once. He stepped back and took her hand, giving her a comradely look. “Come on, we can handle it together. If I don’t make it… you can have my comic collection.”

Seeing Ben’s grin on the other side of the door as she opened it already started to make the worries that Angela was feeling, being so flustered at getting ready, diminish. He put his arms around her and hugged her and going up on his toes so that he could kiss her. She bent down making it easier for him to reach and returned the light kiss. She loved that he didn’t care about their height difference. It never bothered her at all, he was always her crush, she had gotten her dream guy.
She smiled as he called her sweetheart and gave her a wink that looked like more of a blink. Everything he did she found adorable. “Thanks Ben..I did try to have everything ready when you got here” She said apologetically. She then laughed as he explained how he told his mom that she’d teach him to boil an egg. “Well we better make sure you know how to do at least a little cooking in case she does check up” She told him giving him another kiss.
Angela held onto his hand as he stepped back giving her the serious look as they prepared to venture upstairs to deal with her brothers. “Don’t go giving your comics away yet, we can handle them together, if they can team up, so can we”

Ben smiled at Angela, happy that he had finally made it to her house and away from his slightly over-bearing parents (although he did realise that they had reason to be over-bearing that day above all others). He nodded a little to assure his girlfriend that he believed that she had gotten ready for his arrival in plenty of time. He knew Angela as well as he knew himself, if not better, and he knew that she would have made efforts to be ready and waiting for him on his arrival to begin to exciting adventure of college life. He also knew her little brothers well enough to know that the little monsters would have done everything they could to mess up her preparedness.
“It’s just ‘cause they love you,” he said quietly, looking slightly impish as he grinned at her. A lot of things the twins did were done out of pure mischievousness, but he knew that there was a lot of love in the Weber household. He put a comforting arm around her. “They’re going to miss screwing with your organisational skills, y’know.”
Ben tilted his head upwards to receive Angela’s kiss and then gave a slightly pained look at the thought of having to cook for himself, even if it was just an egg. “You’d never see Bruce Wayne cook for himself and he’s not even a real superhero,” he grumbled good-naturedly, not really minding, but also not eager to embrace that particular domestic side.
He hummed a little in response to his girlfriend’s confidence in their team before giving her a bright grin in concurrence. He knew that whatever the two of them did together they would do well at, both being bright (if slightly dorky on his side) and sensible, even if it was just dissuading two small boys from sabotaging their college getaway. He patted Angela’s hand and looked up at her.
“Okay,” he paused and took a deep, faux nervous breath. “So how do you want to do this? Good cop, bad cop; cease and desist; brute force; torture?” He wriggled his fingers in front of him in a tickling motion and half-smiled as he gave his girlfriend a side-long look. There were many ways to get to the enemy, some weren’t pretty, but it could be done.

Angela smiled softly at Ben appreciating his acknowlegement that he knew she had been ready on time or at least would have if it hadn't been for her brothers. She knew that she should have planned around them, given herself the extra time to allow for them, but it was too late for that now. "At least classes don't start tonight or anything, so we're not on strict schedule" She commented.
Angela nodded knowing that he was right when he said the twins did it because they loved her and would miss her when she was gone. "In their own miniature skewed ways, yes I suppose you're right" She agreed leaning into him as he put his arm around her. "Next time I think they should just give me extra hugs or something to prove their point"
She gave a smile as he mentioned how Bruce Wayne would never cook. "Well he's a rich enough to have a butler, so I dont think thats a good comparison...but I'm sure Clark Kent had to cook for himself when he first moved to Metropolis" She said having picked up a bit of the superhero knowlege from their time together. She had to admit she liked that better than the kung fu movies, but she'd gladly do either with him just to spend time with him.
She grinned as she listened to him list off the options of how to deal with the situation they were about to walk in on. "I think we should try to get them to help us, otherwise we might just be fighting a losing battle if they unpack as fast as we pack" She said then added with a smirk "Although the brute force and torture could work too"

“Don’t worry about it, Ang, really,” Ben comforted, reaching a hand out and stroking the end of her nose with his forefinger. He smiled at her in a puppy-like fashion and stepped through the doorway, ready and eager to help his girlfriend repack what her brothers had managed to undo – even if his job was mostly to distract them from making nuisances of themselves again. He shifted his arm slung it over her shoulders, pulling her close for a moment. “No strict schedule, the world is our oyster, Miss. Weber.”
He nodded a little, reinforcing his own point that her little brothers only did the pesky things they did out of love. It was sweet, really, though he could still see how the big sister found it annoying. He held her close to his skinny chest for a few moments, placing a soft kiss on her cheek, though had he been taller, it would have been on top her head. “Oh, boys can’t hug between the age of four and fourteen, it’s a genetic impossibility, you should know that by now.” He laughed a little and let his girlfriend go, somewhat reluctantly.
He shrugged a little when Angela wormed out the flaw in his petulant argument about cooking. He could see her point that Clark Kent probably did have to cook for himself, but he was a bit of a dork when not being Superman, plus then he got Lois. But he decided not to mention that. He was glad that Angela had taken to his superhero films and comic books, though he still had to go to some guy friends’ houses at times to get a really good martial arts movie marathon going. It was good to be able to talk to her about it, though – as geeky as it was, both genres were a big part of his life.
Ben nodded, his expression serious as he discussed the plan of attack with his girlfriend. Sometimes dealing with pre-pubescent boys, especially the twins, took careful planning, and occasionally watch synchronisation. Not this time though. “Good point, Jean. I always knew you were the brains,” he grinned at her and started for the stairs. “Well, if they make more trouble we can kung fu their mischievous butts.”

Angela grinned as he pulled her close to him and told her that the world was their oyster so they didnt have to worry about a strict schedule. "I can't imagine doing this without you" She told him sincerely, with a little bit of a blush to her cheeks, knowing she meant a lot more than just repacking. She knew it would be so much harder to leave her family and go off to school if Ben wasn't at her side. She'd have probably been in tears today instead of happy and excited about what was still to come.
Angela laughed as Ben explained to her that boys were genetically unable to give hugs between the ages of four and fourteen. "Good to know, thanks for letting me in on it" She told him. "Were you like that at their age too? " She said glad that he had overcome that inability now as he finished giving her a hug and kiss on the cheek, the exact comfort she needed.
Angela chuckled as he told her that she made a good point and called her Jean, the brains. "Okay we've got a strategy then" She said heading up the stairs with him. "if they dont help, you bring out the roundhouse kicks"

A more natural smile spread over Ben’s features as he heard Angela’s compliment and he agreed with her. They worked well together, as a team, as a couple, they just clicked. Once the initial shyness on both their parts had been overcome at the beginning of their relationship, they had truly bloomed together. He couldn’t imagine going through all these life-changing moments without Angela by his side now.
“That’s okay,” he reassured her, the set of his mouth still natural rather than pulled into any kind of exaggerated smirk or grin. He stroked her back a little. “I’ll be here now and for as long as you’ll have me. We have a good thing going here.” He looked up at his girlfriend, also not entirely meaning the situation at hand, but generally.
“My pleasure,” he told her, grinning brightly, as she laughed at his comment that boys couldn’t hug. He wondered if she thought it was a joke, because as far as he was aware it was true. Apart from a minority, most boys thought girls as gross, cootie ridden weirdoes until the hormones kicked in. It was probably a good evolutionary thing… somehow. He smiled as he thought back to himself at the twins’ age and nodded. “Yep, girls were scary monster type things, made all the superheroes and super-kung fu dudes mess up for no reason whatsoever. My opinion… has… changed now, though. So there is hope!” He ended with a questioning grin.
“Absolutely; they shall fear my super-awesomeness,” he said, swelling his chest proudly. He let it deflate after a moment. “Either that or they’ll double-team me for long enough for you to pack again… So… once more on to the breach?”

Despite the amount of time that they had been together, Angela's heart still skipped a beat in excitement hearing Ben tell her he'd be there as long as she'd have him. She smiled and nodded in agreement. "We do have a good thing going"
Angela couldn't help but laugh as Ben continued with his explanation on the thought process of young boys towards girls until a certain age. He then added that his thought process had changed. "I'm glad that it has for you and can't wait for my brothers to speed up that part of the process...or they could go back a couple years to when they behaved a little better. "
Angela loved Ben's goofy nature, even now talking about his super-awesomeness (though she did see him that way). "Either way I should be able to get packed...lets go for it"
