Emmett smiled down at his niece Renesmee and he too didn't call her Nessie because he liked the sound of Renesmee and it was a really nice name. Then Emmett patted Renesmee's head's gently and kneeled down to her and then said "Well your mother probably wanted you to stay inside, but your father probably wanted the same thing. You're here now and you can stay as long as your dad says yes. You better ask him Renesmee?" and then Emmett stood up and looked at Edward, smiling.
Renesmee grinned back up at her uncle, her smile growing even wider as he kneeled down to her level. "Thanks Uncle Emmett! I hope I don't slow you down to much."
Nessie lifted her face up towards her father and opened her eyes as wide as she could. "Is it okay Daddy? I know you still like me eating human food best but it's so gross!" Renesmee wrinkled her nose a little before putting on her best pleading face.

Emmett then tickled Renesmee's chin and smiled down at her as he stood up and then Emmett had said "Don't worry Renesmee, you don't slow me down because if you want me to I'll be at your level." Then Emmett had smiled and looked at Edward as Renesmee was too, but he wasn't giving off any emotion really except a smile and in his thoughts he was saying 'You're a good dad and Renesmee is lucky. I know you'll make the right choice.'

Edward smirked at Emmett as he told Renesmee that she could stay so long as he said it was alright. He prepared himself for the sad pleading look that he knew was going to come. He also knew that it was almost impossible to resist from his own daughter. She was right in that he preferred her eating human food, but knew he couldnt keep her from hunting all the time.
Looking back at his brother he heard the thoughts directed at him and appreciated him. It was hard for Edward to picture himself as a good dad. That was the way he thought of Carlisle, even if they were only playing those roles, Carlisle had very much been a father figure to him for all these years. Edward hoped he could be half the father Carlisle had been to his own daughter. Looking back down at his daughter he nodded slowly.
"Alright, you can come with us, but you have to stay close by me at all times, no running off. And if you get tired I'll carry you" He offered always worried about the frailties that still remained in her. "But tomorrow you're going to have some human food"

Esme smiled at her "granddaughter" as she frowned about human food. Her face was the most adorable face in the world, it was hard not to give in to the girl's every whim. "How about we make some Italiano tomorrow? I'm sure Jacob would like to eat some." Even if Edward didn't care much for Jacob and the future Renesmee could have with the teen, she knew that enticing the little girl with the idea of her Jake partaking in eating human food, there was a great chance the little girl would oblige her father's wishes.
Esme crouched down and pushed some hair behind the girl's ear and gave her a kiss on the cheek before looking up to Edward. "Is that okay with daddy?" she asked in a teasing tone. "This way everyone wins."

Emmett then walked over to stand beside Esme when he noticed that she had given Renesmee a little kiss on the cheek which was just so motherly of her. Even though he still didn't like the wolves that much, especially Paul he was just glad that he didn't have to live with him, but he tolerated them because of Renesmee. It would be terrible for Renesmee to see her uncle act like that and Emmett tells himself to always go hunting the night before he comes over. "Well, if you don't mind me, but if Jacob is coming over I must be hunting. I'll be back soon" and Emmett then tickled Renesmee's chin a little and then ran off into the words. Soon the scent of a deer caught through Emmett's nose and he chased it. After Emmett had caught it he had immediately sunk his teeth into its neck and drank the blood. Then nearly two minutes later Emmett felt fuller and ran back over to where he had last seen Esme, Edward, and Renesmee and then stopped right next to Esme.
Renesmee stretched her lips into the biggest grin possible. “Thank you Daddy!” It always meant a lot to her when she was allowed to do anything that might be considered remotely dangerous. Her parents had a tendency to be overprotective, but even at her young age Renesmee understood why. They didn’t really have any examples to look to when it came to knowing what Renesmee was capable of at what age, because although they knew how old she was chronologically it was never certain exactly how old she was physically and mentally.
Renesmee wrinkled her nose again playfully as her father offered to carry her If she got tired; it only made her that much more determined to keep up with the others.
She was about to protest about having to eat regular food tomorrow, but at Esme’s mention of Jacob the smile spread across her face again.
“I guess if Jacob eats with us it would be okay.” She knew that Jacob was a bit grossed out by Renesmee eating blood, so she liked being able to eat regular food with him occasionally so that hopefully he would forget about what she preferred to eat. And besides, when she was with her Jacob she was always in such a good mood that she could barely taste the food anyway.
Renesmee watched with amusement as Emmett ran deeper into the woods, giggling at how quickly he was able to catch a deer, drink it and return to their little group. “I don’t think I’ll ever be as fast as you, Uncle Emmett.”

Edward smiled as he listened to Esme's offer to cook 'Italiano' for his daugther the next day and persuaded her to eat it by suggesting that Jacob would eat with her. Watching Esme and Emmett with Renesmee always made Edward happy. His entire family loved the little girl, and it gave them all a chance to raise a child, something they never thought would be possible for them. He knew he was lucky to have her, despite the difficulties of the birth.
Edward smiled as his daughter thanked him for letting her stay out with them. "You're welcome...but the food would still be okay even if Jacob wasn't eating it you know. Its good for you. " He encouraged her.
Edward then laughed after Emmett returned from his first hunt and Renesmee remarked on not ever being as fast as Emmett. "Oh I wouldn't be so sure of that sweetie, you are my daughter and we know I can beat him in a race anyday...maybe when you're a little older you'll end up even faster than all of us" He told her, knowing that they really didnt know how her development may progress.
Renesmee grinned as her father mentioned how much faster than Emmett he was. As much as Nessie loved all the members of her extended family, she was very proud of her parents so she was secretly pleased that her daddy was so much faster than the rest of them, and that being a vampire seemed to come so much more naturally for her mommy than anyone else. Renesmee could only hope that she had inherited some of her parents’ exceptional traits, and that she would grow up to outshine them all and make her parents proud.
She happily skipped in circles around her uncle. “You hear that, Uncle Emmett? One day I’ll beat you!”
Renesmee abruptly stopped her skipping as she caught the scent of a bear. She looked at her father questioningly, knowing there was no reason to ask out loud for his permission to hunt.

Edward could see the look in Renesmee's eye, knowing what she wanted even before her thoughts revealed her question to him. He had smelled the bear and figured Emmett might have gone for it, but knew his brother would let Nessie have this one if she liked. Edward smiled down at his daughter giving her a light nod. He bent down and kissed her forehead lightly.
"Go ahead, just be careful" He told her. Though he knew she was strong enough to handle the bear, the fatherly concern for her safety was still there and he knew he'd be keeping an eye on her while she hunted.
Renesmee grinned widely at her father before running off after the scent as fast as her legs would carry her. She could never help giggling as she chased; though she knew it was probably better hunting form to be as quiet as possible. She was always so much faster than her prey anyway, and she couldn’t help that it was so much fun hunting.
The scent got stronger and stronger and she knew she was getting closer. As she caught the first glimpse of a large, black bear, she felt a familiar thrill run through her body. She knew her bloodlust wasn’t quite as compelling for her as it was for the rest of her family, but she still found her mouth watering like crazy every time she got close to a feed. There was also something very satisfying about the way she, as small as she was, was capable of overpowering such large creatures.
As she gained on the bear, Renesmee finally got within reaching distance. She jumped with all of her might and wrapped her little body around the neck of the bear. Before the bear had a chance to react, her face was pressed into his fur; her teeth sinking into him and finding her tasty treat.
It was a big meal for a little girl, and when she was done she ran back to her family, a little more slowly than before though she had a big smile on her face and her hunger was completely satiated.
She grinned at the others. “I bet none of you could do that when you were my age!” She suddenly felt much better about not being as fast or as strong as the others yet; she knew she was well on her way.

Edward watched as his daughter ran off to hunt. She was good at it, definitely having the skill, and he was sure her size helped to confuse the prey she went after. He often wondered though if he was being a good father by letting her run off and do this. There wasn't exactly a manual when it came to how to raise a half-vampire half human child. Being a father in itself was hard enough, but there were extra challenges here. He was glad that she had taken to their vegetarian lifestyle (though would have preferred her to eat human food), but he sometimes wondered if teaching her to hunt like this may lead to trouble in the future, as it may entice her to try chasing a human. He just had to trust that his daughter's own compassion and good nature would lead her on the right path, and perhaps even his own influence would guide her there.
He smiled as he watched her running back to the family. "None of us could have even come close to doing that at your age...or at your height" He grinned at her.
