Hehe. I've just been given back Twilight and New Moon, which I'd leant to a friend's daughter and she sent me a note back with them saying, 'Thank you so much for the books. I enjoyed them very much. Please can I borrow the next one?'
I don't know why, but it amused me and I thought I would share! I like to spread the joy of a good book, but I have to say that parting with them was very difficult.

Oh, that was so nice of her. The person I lent Twilight and New Moon to returned them to me recently, but it was obvious that she mistreated them

Well she did ask to borrow all four, so I said she could have the first two and then the last two when she returned the others. I did make up an excuse about Eclipse and Breaking Dawn already being leant out, but really I was testing her. A little mean, yes, but I love my books, I am the only person allowed to harm them! I hope yours weren't returned in too bad a condition?

Yea, for some reason I couldn't part with all of them, and she's a slower reader than I am so I just gave her the first two, which are the paperbacks. Eclipse and Breaking Dawn are the hard covered ones but I've no intention of letting her borrow them. I realize that they're just books, but they're my books and I would never treat someone else's property like that.
They're not completely ruined, but you can tell that she folded the book all the way around to whatever page she was reading. The sensitive binding is started to wear off. *sigh*

Aww nooo. I physically cringe when I see people bending paperback overs all the way around the spine. We were taught not to do that in primary school

That's sweet that she left you a note. I just got the fourth book back from my uncle, he borrowed it back in mid-October. It was depressing having to skip over Breaking Dawn while he had it. So now I've read Twilight and New Moon five times, Eclipse four times, and Breaking Dawn three times. My books generally just get rotated through myself, my mom, and my brother. So there always in the house. We try to keep it so that we're all reading a different book and not fighting over the same one.

Hehe, that's nice, though, having people in your family to share books with. When I lived at home my family were not big into reading, so no discussion there and now I have three huge bookcases full (bliss!), but my fiancée doesn't read anything that's not crime fiction or non-fiction, which is alright, but ranks pretty lowly in my preference of genres. See, people could come over and read my books under supervision This ain't no borrowin' library. Hehe, this puts me in a really bad light, I would lend to friends really, I just might fret about the books while they're away from home.

Three full bookcases? How many books is that?! Lol. I have very few books in my house. I'm not a big reader, unfortunately. I wish I was, but I can never really get into books.
Oo, speaking of things that make you cringe when other people read books.... I cringe when people dogear the corner of a page to mark their spot. My brother does this to my beloved Twilight books. I don't know why it bothers me so much now, I used to do it when I was younger.

I definatly get the dog earing of pages i practically go into a fit when my friends do it to any of my books. I recently allowed my friend to borrow my hard copy of breaking dawn and was bit in the butt for trusting her with it! i am still upset about it...she lost it!!! so i went out and bought a new one and it is now happily perched on the top shelf of one of my six book cases with my other Twilight books i have doubles of them all now copies in paperback and hardcover. see i read alot and being at home alot so i ahve many books i seem to buy new ones everytime i go into town. to sum up how many i have i decided to count them just now i have a toatl of 783 books and thats not counting my two book cases devoted to all types of vampire books. lol i admit im alittle vampire obbsessed....but i dont mind it i actually am reading a new series called "Blue Bloods" it is a wonderful series and im only on the second book becaue i am waiting for my local bookstore to get the third one. but i just thought i'd add my oppinon in on this...and my oppinion is its okay not to want to lend books to friends especially when that particular book means alot to you.

Oh new sharing story! So I go to the bank once a week to make deposits for my job, and I caught one of the tellers looking up Twilight stuff on her computer! LOL. So I proved that I was a nosy person and asked her about it and we ended up talking about it for like 15 minutes. I ended up giving her my burned copy of the Twilight soundtrack. I saw her again today and she totally loves it :]]]]]]]

Hehe, I got my Twilight book back today (again) And again, my friends impress me with the good care they have taken of it - I think there's some note of warning in my eye or something when I hand it over Still have Eclipse and Breaking Dawn leant out though.

My mother gave our books out to her friends, and I made sure they all knew not to do anything to the books. Im the only one who is allowed to ruin them! When I read them they tend to get slightly ruined all the time but thats alright if im doing it, I feel like i have a bond with the first book I read, like I can go get new ones that look good, but I will always read the one that I first read hahaha.
