Alex was sitting in math class kind of spacing out. He hated math more than any other subject and it didn't help that the teacher's voice usually put him to sleep. How was he supposed to focus on math when this idiot was going on like what he was teaching was the most boring thing in the world? That explained the reason he was staring out the window while his text book lay open in front of him unread for that class. He got good grades regardless, so the teacher never minded when he didn't pay attention.
Alex was shy and the person he enjoyed talking most to was his best friend Laicey so he usually never had much to say to anyone else. Of course a lot of the girls at Forks High School had shown interest in Alex, but his friend usually chased them off before he got a chance to talk to them. Laicey was possessive of Alex and was open about it. She was flirting with one of the jocks across the room and it made him sulk a little. They were best friends, but still, he couldn't lie and say it didn't make him a little jealous seeing her flirting with other guys.
His sullen behavior was interrupted by a tap on his hand. Alex's gaze shot up quickly in his surprise and the girl sitting behind him passed him a note written on a tiny piece of folded loose leaf paper. He unfolded it and read it quickly, wondering where it could have come from. Most of the girls around Forks knew that Laicey was a little bitchy and wouldn't have even bothered at this point trying to get to him. The note simply read, "Meet me at the diner after school."
There was no signature attached to it, so he had no clue who had written it to him. Alex was still feeling a little annoyed about Laicey flirting with the stupid jock across the room, so he decided he would go meet whoever it was and see what they wanted without her there. She could entertain herself for awhile while he went to meet the stranger and he would pick her up after he was done. Alex drove a black Ford F-250 Super Duty truck and he and Laicey rode to and from school together every day. Today was going to be different though. Laicey would have to wait for him until he was finished doing what he wanted instead of the other way around.
