Elaine was standing at her locker getting all of her books. She was tired of school already. She knew it was okay but her mind was just getting to that spot where she was wearing herself to a thin line. "Well okay I better get to class soon before I back out and don't go."
She then turned holding her books and started to head toward the class room. She was wearing a blue jean skirt and a powder blue tank top. She was to busy thinking about if he had getting her home work done the night before. "Okay math is done. English is done. History is not done but it not due yet. So yes that all of them." She smiled glad it got done so she would not have to explain she worked yesterday.

Alex was walking to American History class with his text book tucked under his arm and his book bag slung over one shoulder. This was only his second year at Forks High School, but he had grown to like it here and made a few friends, but not many. Alex had always been a little shy around new people and because of that he wasn't the most popular guy in school.
He was always polite to people though and was liked well enough, he just didn't try particularly hard to fit in with the popular kids or make a name for himself. Alex was content in his anonymity and the small group of friends he had. He liked to play his guitar and relaxing at the beach or with his friends. Alex had always been smart and gotten A's his whole school career, so he never really stressed about that kind of thing and he planned to become a psychologist after high school.
That was two years away though and for now he had to get to his class before he was late. Alex walked down the crowded hallways quickly and soon arrived at the room where history was taught, taking his usual seat in the back closest to the window. Even though he spaced out a lot and liked to stare outside, the teachers knew him well enough that they didn't bother him.
Alex always did very well in all his classes and had shown through his grades he didn't really need to pay attention. He had been born with a photographic memory and it allowed him to look at a page once or twice before he had it memorized. A few minutes later after all the students had come in, Mr. Scott had arrived and began lecturing. Alex stopped paying attention after a few minutes, and was looking around the classroom when he noticed one of the girls in his class looking beautiful in a jean skirt and blue top. Alex may have been shy, but he was still a guy.

Elaine sat up at the front of the class and was taking note on what was going on. She hated this class because he never seemed to understand why history was so important. She did good to even scrap by in this class with a C. *Great why do we have to learn this. It does not even make any sense. So we had a war big deal.*
She then looked up from her paper around the class room and noticed a guy looking at her. She smiled and then waved at him. She then went back to looking at her desk. She was writing a note to the boy.
'Hello there,
My name is Elaine Rhodes and I was wondering if you were able to do this. I saw you looking at me so I thought it meant you were descent at History because you did not have to pay attention. I can pay you to tutor me if you want. It just I need to try and my more then a C in this class. I am barely scraping by. If you want to just meet me after class or send me a note back with your answer.
Thank you a head of time if you are. '
Elaine read it again before folding it up and turning back to the boy and throwing it onto his table. She had learned how to throw notes like that at her other school before everything happen. She then kept watch on the boy making sure he opened it.

Alex smiled nervously at the pretty girl as she waved to him and then began writing a note. When she tossed it onto his desk, he read it quickly and decided to wait until after class to tell her his answer. He didn't mind tutoring her if that's what she wanted and it would give him a chance to get to know her better.
Alex waited until the bell rang, then packed up his bag and slung it over his shoulder. He headed out into the hallway, then leaned against the wall of the hallway outside to wait for her. Alex smiled when he saw her walk out and replied, "I'll be glad to tutor you if you need it. You don't have to pay me anything. I don't need the money and we can chat while I teach you this stuff. How about we meet at my house at like 7?"
Alex wrote down his address on the same piece of paper she had thrown to him earlier and handed it back. He was going to be late for his next class, so with that Alex headed off down the hallway to his next class with a smile on his face. He couldn't wait until tonight when he would get to see Elaine again. Today was going a lot better than he had thought it would.

Elaine smiled as she read where he lived again. She was happy now to have someone else to talk to. He was also so willing to help tutor her in history. She looked at her books and then sat in her class room. She knew he said that she did not have to pay him anything but he had to think of something to get him yet. She spent the whole class period thinking about what she could get him.
She doodled on her math notebook with different things and realized that she did not even get the guys name. 'wow this is going to be interesting I have to see if I can find out his name now. ' She sat there for the whole class then walked out of it looking around to see if she could find the boy that in her history class.
She was at her locker though putting her different books out that she did not to carry them anymore. She would get them when she needed them. Once getting them put up she turned around to look around the room once more before heading of to the cafeteria and sitting down at one of the table to eat her homemade cupcake, sandwich, chips, and water.

Alex realized he hadn't even properly introduced himself to Elaine earlier and he figured he'd do it at lunch. When the bell rang, Alex went to his locker first to change out his books for his afternoon classes before heading to the cafeteria with his lunch in a bag. Alex scanned the mass of students to see where she could be sitting and after he spotted her at a table towards the back.
He walked over to her and sat down, setting his book bag in the seat next to him before saying, "I realized I didn't introduce myself properly earlier. I'm Alex. Alex Morrison. It's a pleasure to meet you. I hope you don't mind if I join you for lunch." Alex flashed her one of his best smiles and held out a hand for her to shake. Once she took it, he shook her hand a few times before releasing his grip and opening his lunch.
Every once in a while during the meal, he would glance over at Elaine to check her out, but if she noticed she didn't say anything. There was simply a silent attraction there that was reflected by the constant smile on Alex's face. He wasn't positive, but he thought that she was looking at him the same way. Once Alex was done, he turned to her and asked, "So, how come I haven't ever talked to you before this?"

Elaine looked up at him. She knew he would occasionally look at her and it made her rather happy. "Well Alex it nice to finally get your name. I was wondering all last period if I should have showed up at your house. I mean who knew you could have been one of them strange serial killer types."
She then laughed a little bit as she thought about his next question. She was not really sure why he had not talk to her but she had a feeling. "It might have been because I just now started to move back into where I wear normally colors again. All of last year and even some of this wore all black. It was sort of creepy no one really ever talked to me. To tell you the truth I beat if I would not have thrown you that note asking for help you still would not have thought about coming over and sit at this lovely but empty table with me." She spread her hands out to show the table's emptiness. She then looked back up at him. There was something about him that just felt right sitting here.
"Plus I spent most of my day at this table doing homework. Since well I have to make at least a C in my classes but need to do better" She looked at the boy and smiled as she took a sip of her water. She could not believe she was sitting here rambling on. "So do you have any theory's on why you have never thought about sitting here and saying hi."

Alex laughed at her serial killer comment. He was one of the nicest and most caring people at the school and he could never really hurt anyone. At her comment about the table being empty he replied, "Actually, I prefer the table being empty. Now we have time alone together without any interruptions. It's really nice actually to have someone else to talk to." It was hard for him to imagine Elaine ever being creepy. When she smiled at him, Alex's heart started beating a little faster.
She was way too pretty for that, but he answered her question, "Probably because I'm usually spacing out during school or trying to avoid too many people. Not really a fan of crowds. I mean, it's only my second year here and I'm still kind of bummed out about moving, but it's looking a lot better now." Alex gave Elaine a meaningful smile, then continued with his own question, "So what classes are you having trouble with? Because I'm pretty good at everything and I can help you, if you'd like. Though I just thought about what I'd like as payment. In exchange for tutoring, will you go on a date with me, Elaine?"

Elaine looked at him shocked at what he had said. She had not went on a date in forever and she was not sure what to say. She then smiled thinking about this. "Well okay lets see a date would be history tutoring then I have to have a few session over science come test time and you have a deal. " Elaine then started to look around at table and smiled looking up to Alex's eyes again. She did not know why but something about him made her happy and full again.
"I moved here at the beginning of the year last year since well my mom kicked me out. I was sort of a depressed girl so dad took me in got me a job at the dinner. It helped out a lot since well I just agreed to go on a date with you." She took a piece of her cupcake off with her fingers. She wished one of these days she would talk herself into buying the schools food. She then looked around the lunch room. "You know I think your right about having a table to our selfs. I never realized it but you can actually carry on a descent conversation and well I don't have to shout to hear you."

Alex smiled wider when she agreed, but he was sorry that she had been depressed. He knew being depressed really sucked since he had gone through it before, but he was glad she was doing better now. Alex said, "I'm sorry that you had a hard time, but at least now we can have some fun together tonight."
He already knew where he was going to take her later that night after studying, since he liked going there himself. Alex really liked Elaine and she would be the first girl he had taken there. He had discovered the place not too long after they moved here and it was his favorite place to go to think and relax. Sometimes he would bring his guitar and play as he watched the stars. Alex rose from the table as the bell rang and said, "I'll see you later tonight, Elaine. We'll have fun." He threw away his lunch bag then and left the cafeteria to go to his next class.
A few classes later school was out and Alex was still thinking about Elaine. He got his books he would need for homework and to help Elaine and then walked out to the parking lot. Alex threw his bag in the bed of his black truck, then got it and drove home. When he pulled up to the large house he now called home, Alex got out with his bag and went inside, then up to his room where he put it down and then got undressed.
Alex showered and did his homework before getting dressed in a blue button down shirt and jeans for later. He explained what was going on to his parents and then left to get flowers for later. When he got to the flower shop, they only had yellow roses, so he bought those and then went back home to wait for Elaine to arrive. It was almost 7 now, so it wouldn't be too much longer before she showed up. Alex went in his room with the flowers and sat in his desk to wait for the door bell to ring.
