Edward appreciated Bella's support of him, even against a family friend like Billy. He hated to make waves in her normal life so he had tried to stay neutral and calm for the most part. He wouldn't antagonize Billy and cause any more trouble for Bella. Edward had heard Billy's thought, the old Quileute man was believing that Edward had just dazzled her into submission, that he had cast a spell or something that needed to be broken. He knew nothing of what was really going on here.
"Bella's not taking anything out on anyone" Edward defended her, knowing she had too good of a heart to ever try to hurt someone like that. He saw her struggling to keep the pain from showing on her face and wanted to help her out. He put his arm around her to help support her weight, and keep her from stumbling further. "Lean on me" He told her softly.

Billy looked at Bella. "fine okay lets go in the house. That way you can sit down. I know your hurting but not wanting to say anything. " Billy then opened the door and rolled inside. He was waiting for them now it enter. He knew if they had not come in side then he was going to head back out after them. Billy did not like fact that she was willing to be with a vampire that would one day have to break the treaty to be with her.
Billy was wanting to say something to Edward when he said something about him not taking anything out on anyone but he knew that was not true. She never went to La Push and more. He had almost brought Jacob alone with him but decided no on it.

Bella looked up at Edward and smiled at him gratefully as he put his arm around her. She didn’t really want to have to be reliant upon him, but the pain had begun to jar up her leg, making it quite tingly - she wasn’t really supposed to be up and about yet. Thus she leant the majority of her weight on to the vampire, knowing that he would barely feel it.
“Thank you,” she barely whispered, hoping that only Edward would hear her. She bristled as Billy piped up a moment later, and she sucked in another breath to try to steady her nerves, she didn’t know whether it was the pain, but she seemed to be finding Jacob’s father extra trying today. If he wasn’t careful Billy would drive the anger pent up in Bella too far, producing those infuriating tears that she couldn’t control. That was something she was eager to avoid at all costs.
She focused on the back of Billy’s head as he wheeled his way into the house and followed him in.
“I’m not sure how long Charlie’s going to be,” she told him, awkwardly acting the hostess now that he was inside her house. If she tried to steer the conversation away from vampires and legends then maybe she could get through this until Charlie got home. “Can I get you anything while you wait - a drink, tv?”

Billy sat there looking at the both of them. He was sort of happy that he had made it early to watch them. "Sorry I don't mind how long he is going. It was just this was the only time I could get a ride over to the house."
Billy sat in the kitchen and smiled as Bella was being a wonderful host. "I would like just some water if you have it. I have been trying to watch what I am eating and things.

As Edward walked Bella back inside the house after Billy, he tried to lift her up slightly anytime she'd be trying to put weight on her bad leg. He would have much prefered to carry her inside, but thought that with the current circumstance, neither Bella or Billy would be very happy about it.
"It's my pleasure" Edward responded barely above a whisper as Bella thanked him. He was sure his voice was low enough that it wouldn't travel to the Quileute.
"I could get you both something to drink if you'd like to rest your leg" He suggested to Bella, wondering if Billy would even trust him to get a glass of water for him.

Bella’s face stretched into a tiny smile at Edward’s response to her thanks, appreciating that he understood her desire not to seem too vulnerable to the visiting Quileute. Seeming delicate to Edward was an inevitability that she had to live with, but she would show the strength that he gave her to anyone else. She nodded to Billy when the got inside, attempting that understanding look that she often saw on Carlisle’s face in trying situations, but she, unfortunately, lacked several centuries of perfecting it. Thus, Bella’s smile turned out to be just a fraction from a grimace, despite her best intentions. She did understand that Billy found it quite difficult to get around in his wheelchair, but it seemed that he was getting a little pushy after this incident with the Nomads. She supposed she could see where he was coming from there too, but that didn’t help her capacity for patience increase at all.
“That’s okay, Billy,” she told him, cutting herself off as Edward politely offered to get them a drink. She smiled at him widely. “That would be great,” she said, glancing towards Billy to see how he would respond. She knew that it was rude to just sit and watch a guest drink, so a beat later she added. “I’ll just get some water too.”

Edward was relieved that Bella allowed him to help her without a fight, but at the same time he knew that it must have meant her leg was really hurting since her excursion outside. She was pushing herself too hard, he knew it. Luckily she also accepted his offer to get the drinks. He would feel horrible watching Bella in her cast go get drinks for herself and a man in a wheelchair (Quileute or not), while he just stood there.
"Two waters it is" Edward said, being the picture of politeness. He wouldnt be the one to start anything. "Please have a seat" He said softly to Bella wanting her to rest, before going to get their drinks.

Bella smiled once more at Edward, clearly having eyes only for him. She admired his resilient politeness, doubting that she would have the patience if their positions were reversed.
“Thank you,” she breathed at him, shuffling over to one of the two chairs in the kitchen. She sat down on the hers, leaving Charlie’s free for Edward if he chose to sit afterwards, knowing that once Charlie was there to keep Billy company, they could escape the complication. She pressed her lips together for a moment and the turned her head towards Billy.
“So, how is Jacob, Billy?” she asked.

Billy looked at Bella when she asked him about Jacob. He had then started to smile. "Jacob is doing great. I mean he spends a good bit of it helping me out around the house. I think it would be better if he could get all the parts he needs for his car. It just hard because of the fact that we don't have them anywhere close."
He then took the water and sipped on it. "thanks for the water. Edward thanks for being so polite."

Edward placed the two waters on the table, one in front of each of them before taking the other empty seat. He felt no physical desire to sit, but knew that it would appear more relaxing for the others to have him seated as well.
He was a bit surprised to hear Billy thank him, and even acknowlege his politeness. "You're welcome" He told him, restraining himself from pointing out that his family did have manners. He decided instead that perhaps today's encounter with the Quileute could actually be helpful to their situation. The native man could see Edward in a nonthreatening way, acting with complete restraint. It may help relations with the tribe, beyond the point of the treaty....but then again you could only ask so much from a glass of water.

Bella looked up at Edward, gratefulness clear in her large, brown eyes. She didn’t know how he had borne Billy’s bluntness so gracefully for so long, but she appreciated that he had decided to wait out Charlie’s return with them. She nodded politely at Billy as he told her about Billy and turned the glass of water around in her hands. She wasn’t thirsty, but she could really do with some Tylenol, she just didn’t want to worry either of them with that, though. She attempted a sympathetic look in Billy’s direction.
“I’d offer our computer, but it tends to not like being…” she paused, a small shrug. “used. You could have a go, though - or get Jake to come and see what he can do…”

Billy sat there in the kitchen drinking on his water. "Thanks for asking but I am really okay thanks. I just came over to watch the game with Charlie. " He smiled at Edward trying to be nice. "The only time that I could get a ride over here was this time so I had to take it. I was not going to miss the game."
He looked over at Bella. "I don't need the computer the truth is I really don't know how to use one at the moment. How you doing in school by the way Bella."

Bella smiled at Billy, his enthusiasm for the game reminding her of Charlie and also of part of the reason that they had become such good friends. At least Charlie liked Edward, though, well, as much as a father could like a daughter’s boyfriend, anyway. Maybe Billy would come around, eventually, then it wouldn’t be so awkward going to visit Jacob - that would be nice.
“I see, well, if there’s any pre-match… stuff,” she struggled to find the word for the nonsense they showed of the teams before a game started. She knew Charlie usually liked to watch it, but it had never caught her own attention. “We can put the TV on now.”
She paused and shrugged a little, in a non-committal manner, as Billy asked her about school. “Oh it’s alright, you know, just school-like. Not much happening since… prom,” she looked down as her cheeks flooded with colour at the memory. A pleasant memory, all the same. “Just a few assignments to do, and at least I’m out of gym for the rest of the year!”
She grinned as genuinely as she could at the elder man and lifted a hand to her mouth to chew on as she tried to ignore the pain.

Edward sat quietly at the table while the two spoke. As Billy mentioned the game Edward wondered if Emmett would be watching that one today as well. His brother still seemed interested in humans sporting events. He would have mentioned something but thought it better not to be the reminder that there was a whole family of vampires not too far off. Having him there was probably enough, so instead he smiled politely back at Billy.
He lookd over at Bella as she started describing the end of the year activites, smiling again as she mentioned prom. He had wanted her to go to experience that important human milestone. He hoped she had enjoyed herself, despite her injury. He couldnt help but give a soft chuckle as she mentioned getting out of gym for the rest of the year. "I think thats best for the safety of everyone in your class"

Bella shot a look at Edward as he chuckled at her words and retorted. Her nose wrinkled and her eyes narrowed, but an amused grin pointed her lips up at the corners and she shook her head a little at his comment. Her own tinkering laugh, no where near as beautiful as any of the Cullens’ escaped her lips.
“You’ve never even seen me in gym,” she accused, fervently glad that he hadn’t. He might not find her so attractive if he saw her sprawling into a tennis net and being stuck there until Mike deemed it necessary to untangle her. She really had no idea why the school insisted on sports being a necessary part of her education. If she really wanted to play them, she would, she didn’t need a piece of paper telling her that she wasn’t too good at them. She shrugged a little. “I can’t argue with that, though. I’m sure Mike is just as thankful as I am…”
