Bella looked at Brittany sympathetically, though her brown eyebrows rose as she swiftly rejected the idea of asking anyone. It did take a moment’s thought, though, which suggested that she did have some desire to go. Or perhaps it was more likely that she didn’t want to go to the dance, but she did like someone at school. A small grin pointed the corners of her lips upward as she latched on to the conversation point. Bella wasn’t very good at small talk, but what girl didn’t like talking about their crushes? Personally, she got far too obviously embarrassed far too quickly to enjoy it much, but that didn’t stop her from liking hearing her friends chat on about the boys in their year.
“Are you sure there’s no one you would like to take?” she asked, her voice talking on an inquisitive tone. “Well, maybe not to the dance, but… you know… in general?”
She laughed a little, finding it easier to act with the stereotypical conversation topic. She turned automatically to the left and entered a small boutique filled with various types of dresses. She looked up, slightly surprised at where she had led them – or had Brittany led them? – She wasn’t too sure. She recognised, vaguely the long racks and funny smell from childhood and surmised that her parents must have brought her here a few times for some reason. Odd.
