The snow fell to add to the constant blanket that covered the ground at this time of year and almost any other time of year up here on the tip. Kate wandered slowly as she returned from a futile hunting trip. Really it was just a chance to be alone, away from the couples of the family. She hadn’t needed to hunt, but had needed some time away. She had yet to see Tanya today so had assumed she had done the same. She could assume what the others were doing and she laughed lightly to herself.
That morning Kate had wandered close to the nature reserve and had caught the scent of the humans out enjoying the park and the fresh snow. She knew to keep her distance. It was not the temptation but the urge to keep their existence here a secret. For fear They would come. Kate tried never to dwell on that thought or the memory associated with it, the pain was too fresh – as it would always be.
She shook her blonde locks as she stepped into the slightly clearing around her family’s cabin. The snow broke free of her hair and fell to the ground only to be replaced. She stepped her left foot on to the bottom stepped and listened. Inside she could hear talking but wasn’t sure who was there. She climbed the remainder of the steps and entered the house. Quickly she removed her snow covered boots and called out, “Hello.”

As Kate entered the house, Carmen had just sat down at the matching wooden table inside the cabin that their coven resided in. She had managed to pull herself from Eleazar’s stunning company just a few minutes earlier, knowing that she had to organise herself for the day. He may be good for a lot of things, but trying to organise anything with him there as a distraction was nigh on impossible for the Hispanic vampire. With the fresh snowfall over the clearing and surrounding area it made it possible for them to go slightly further a field in their hunting as humans would be, for the most part, staying away from the parts of the forest that weren’t littered with trails.
She did have the idea to ask the rest of the family whether they would like to accompany her on the hunt, but as she heard Kate enter the cabin, she realised that she might have been too late. It seemed a lot of her time was spent with Eleazar, which she would never regret, though she did sometimes feel guilty that she was taking advantage of this family that welcomed her and her mate with open arms.
“Hola,” she called, her natural Spanish bubbling past her lips before her brain had managed to make her translate it into English. It didn’t so much matter, though, the Denali coven were all used to her occasional Spanish exclamations.
“Cold out?” she joked, noting the snowflakes resisting melting in Kate’s hair.

"Hola” Kate called out as she entered the large bright kitchen. She smiled at Carmen as she made her way over to the wooden table. Her sock covered feet slapped lightly on the hard wood floor as she moved at human speed to sit down with her sister. Since Carmen and Eleazar had joined their coven it had made their family complete. Of course Kate still missed her mother greatly, but she did not dwell on that.
"Fresh snow and yea, it’s real cold out there." She said shaking her head to dislodge the last of the snowflakes. “A lot of Humans are in the park enjoying the weather.” She laughed lightly as she remembered catching their scent and the sound of laughter on the wind.
She looked around the light airy room. It wasn't often that the house seemed so empty and quiet. It was a novelty that Kate didn't want to get used to. She knew that the others were close by, probably even in the house.
"Where is everyone? When I left to hunt this morning everyone was still....busy." She raised one blonde eye brown and tilted her head to the side. “Though that was a waste of time, and unnecessary. No sport out there.”

Carmen chuckled slightly at Kate as she made her way across the room and told her of the fresh snow. With the thick socks and the wind and water tousled hair, she didn’t think Kate could look any more human if she tried. She knew that her sisters were anxious about staying away from any humans that strayed into the white wilderness near them, a trait that had passed over to Carmen since she had begun to reside with them, but sometimes she wished they could have a more open existence. Her heavily lashed, amber eyes followed Kate’s suit and darted around the room as the other girl mentioned the lack of activity in the house. It was true, with so many of them in one place, it tended to get a little crowded and occasionally boisterous around their house.
“Yeah,” she responded, her Spanish accent rather bashful as Kate mentioned the emptiness of the house that morning. She couldn’t deny it and nor did she even want to, but she still held on to a facet of human embarrassment at being known to be in a compromising situation. She was distracted, however, by Kate’s assessment of the hunting. Her face fell. “Really? Maybe it’s time we go further a field, I’m getting tired of local game…”

Irina could hear the voices in the house, it looked as though Kate had come back from wherever she had gone. As she heard Kate ask where everyone was, Irina decided she would leave the confines of her room. She got up from her bed in one quick movement, she brushed her silvery hair out of her face and glided down the hall.
"Around," Irina answered her sister's question. Irina smiled slightly at both Kate and Carmen before taking a seat beside Carmen at the wooden table.
"Where else are we going to go?" Irina asked Carmen. Though Irina too was getting tired of the usual game in this area, she wasn't sure where else they could go.

((OOC: So at this point Laurent will already have left, but will his death have filtered north yet, I can't remember if it was mentioned when the Denalis/Irina found out...))
Carmen twisted to smile at her other blond sister as she entered the room and sat by her at the table. To be honest, she didn’t really understand why they had a dining room table at all - it wasn’t like they used it and they never ever welcomed any human visitors such as the Cullens did. Still, sitting around a family dining table was an experience that filtered through the ages and it was comforting, or at least she found it to be.
“Good morning, Irina,” she greeted the beautiful vampire. She twisted her lips to the side as she considered Irina’s question - she hadn’t though of it in that much detail. All she knew was that the hardy animals that littered the Alaskan countryside were beginning to grate on her throat. She wanted something hot-blooded. She licked her lips, delicately at the thought, amber eyes dark with thirst.
“We could go south,” she suggested, shrugging a little. “To warmer climes, more variety? Family outing?”

A blur of red hair flashed across the windows glass as Tanya danced across the room straightening things slightly it was a thing that wasn't nessacery but she did it out of habit. She could here the twinkling voices of the others down stairs as she hurried about and kept a listen on their conversation. They were all tired of the same game and trails and grounds, a change was needed and she knew it she worried if she didn't let them venture farther she would loose them. Stopping she rested her palms on the cool glass that almost matched the tempature of her skin, looking out she let an old poem float from her lips, "Snow flakes. I counted till they danced so. Their slippers leaped the town, and then I took a pencil. To note the rebels down. And then they grew so jolly I did resign the prig, and ten of my once stately toes. Are marshalled for a jig!" An old poem she knew by heart as the white powder fell from the sky. Oh a lovely site it was as it poured down from the sky dusting the already white ground, clutching the curtains she let her fingers trace the fabric and smiled thinking, Esme has always had such nice taste.
Hearing Carmen's hispanic warm accent filter into her mind once more she smiled at the thought of going out of territory and thought a nice visit to the Cullens would be nice. Decending down the stairs she entered the dining area were she found Irina, Kate, and Carmen around the table. Eleazar must be hiding away at the moment, Tanya thought as she saw Carmen without him. Moving to sit on a nice oak stool Tanya crossed her ankles and smiled to them all warmly, "I think a trip sounds wonderful Carmen. I was hoping to visit Carlisle and Esme soon and now seems perfect." Tanya always loved thinking of the times the clans spent together.

Eleazar had remained upstairs in the area that he shared with Carmen within the house. He was flipping through one of his old books, refreshing his memory on some of the smaller details within it. After a few moments he started hearing more noise coming softly from below him. The others must be around, he deduced, as he heard more than just the tone of his dear wife's voice.
Heading down the stairs Eleazar saw that his entire family was there. He moved to Carmen's side out of habit, but felt comfortable with all of them. "Hello Ladies" He greeted them gently. "Are we going on a trip?" He asked, with a bit of delight to his voice. Home was always wonderful, but traveling with the family would be a nice treat as well.

(OOC: We deduced that Laurent has left, but news of his death has not reach Denali yet.)
Kate couldn’t help the smile that played on her lips as each member entered the room. Not only was it always a joy to have them together, but it appeared she wasn’t the only one to be disappointed with the local game. The idea of a trip seemed well received by all of them. Though where, was a very good question?
“Perhaps warmer climes are the best option.” Kate spoke up in support of Carmen’s idea, “As for where, well there’s lots of places still to visit and re-visit, Irina.” She laughed as she though of how big the world truly was, even in all her years past and still to come she doubted she would ever see it all. She knew she would never visit Italy, no matter what the game there. Except perhaps one hunt would one day be worth the trip and risk.
She heard mention of Carlisle and Esme. How could she not want to visit there, yet she knew the risk it could pose of so many vampires, even of their diet, in one place. She looked over to Tanya and nodded, “Perhaps we could stop by for a little visit.” Then she thought for a second – it was a risk for all. “We could always go towards the Great Lakes and Canada. The water will be lovely and I’m sure the game much more tempting and offer more sport.” She smiled

Irina listened as the plans for a trip were being made. The entire clan was here now. All of them were open to leaving Denali for an undetermined amount of time for a hunting change, Irina included. Hunting the same thing continuously quickly became a bore. Irina nodded toward Eleazar as he greeted them all.
"Many places indeed," Irina whispered in response to Kate. Though they had traveled many places all across the globe, it was true they hadn't visited every place. "The only reason you want to go to the Cullen's, Tanya, is because of Edward," she teased, smirking at her sister and raising both her blond brows, daring her to object to that fact. Though from what Laurent had told them Edward had found a human girl....
Irina sighed as she brought Laurent to the fore front of her memories. Laurent had come up to the Denali's upon suggestion from the Cullens. He had spent time here for a while, and Irina had gotten very close to him. And then he left, without a word. Irina's previous expression of humor quickly faded into one of sadness and disappointment. She tried not to let them all see her like this, but sometimes it was inevitable.
"Why don't we leave this continent?" Irina suggested, trying to pull herself back into the conversation. An exotic place sounded fun; Africa, South America, Asia...the possibilities were endless for them.

Carmen smiled, the close mouthed expression stretching over her pale, yet olive, skin as another of her sister, Tanya, came into the house. It really was coming to life all of a sudden. She really did love it when the house bubbled with the life it contained, it was something she had always craved, a busy house. She couldn’t really remember anymore, but she felt sure that she must have been from a big human family - she hated eerie silences and was secretly easily unnerved by too much quietness despite being a vampire.
“That’s a good idea, Tanya,” she complimented her sister, following her progress through the room until she sat down at the table. “Muy bueno. They are always so welcoming, but maybe we should give them a little notice…”
She trailed off, turning to unleash the full power of her smile on Eleazar as she sense his approach. Despite the fact that it had only been a few short hours since she had last seen him, it still excited her when he entered the room, it changed the atmosphere of it. She snaked her arm out and around him as he joined her at the table, resting her head on his shoulder. She stared out to the middle distance absorbing her sisters’ suggestions, imagining all the varied climates and game they would get there. She did come to in time to smirk over at Tanya as Irina teased her about Edward. It was no secret that she held a special flame for the youngest looking Cullen, though the expression faded after a few moments as she didn’t like to push his rejection of her too far. She was fairly sure they were at the point where Edward and Tanya were happily friends, but rejection always hurt. She twisted her lips in consideration of leaving the continent.
“It sounds good, a great get away, but…” she paused, trying to consider it properly. “It could be risky, all of us going…”

Irina quickly grabbed Kate’s attention with the comment about leaving the continent, she was up for a change in scenery and hunting but a new continent seemed a little excessive. Kate was just about to comment to that effect when she glanced at Carmen and caught the curl of her lip, obviously she didn’t like the idea of continent hoping either. It was her newest sister who also mentioned the risk of them going together.
“Perhaps we could go in smaller groups?” Kate suggested carefully aware that no one would accept the idea readily, “Maybe some to Forks and some further a field. This is an easier world to keep in touch now.” She smiled.
It was not just the comfort Kate enjoyed with her family, but when they were together it was one less thing to worry about and fear. Splitting into groups would weigh on her mind until they were reunited despite not been the leader of their family coven she still felt the strain of separation. If it came down to separate hunts Kate knew she would relish the chance to visit their extended family in Forks.

Irina sighed as her sisters turned down her idea of leaving the continent. It would have been nice, but she didn't want to separate herself from the family now. "I guess we could stay close by," she said, though she didn't see the point in it. The prey was basically the same across the span of North America.
"But I don't see how leaving the continent with all of us is any different from staying in this one with all of us together," Irina commented.

Carmen’s eyes latched on to the profile of Kate’s face as she spoke to the assembled family, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. She had never heard the splitting of the family being suggested before. Though she and Eleazar sometimes took off on their own, she knew that the rest of her sisters were very conscious about being apart from each other - there would be no pleasure in fresh game for them if they didn’t share it with each other. Her brain worked to try to save the idea, but also to make the situation more comfortable for them, but by the time she had stumbled upon a suggestion, Irina had already spoken. She could hear the disinterest in her sister’s voice.
“Maybe it’s not necessary,” she began in her somehow still heavily accented voice, despite the length of time she had spent from her homeland. “For us to have to stay close by, sí? Maybe if we just travel separately…”
She ended in a shrug, knowing that they would get the sentiment of her idea, but not entirely sure how it would work out in the real world outside her head.

Eleazar gave a slight frown as he listened to his family talk about splitting up for their travels. He knew that no matter how the group was split, he and Carmen would travel together. But even knowing they'd be together, he didn't like the idea of splitting up the family if they all wanted to venture out of town for awhile. He gently placed a hand on Carmen's arm, agreeing with her.
"Are we sure we need to split up at all? If we do, I'm sure it would be safe enough if we still kept the same destination" Eleazar suggested to the group. He would be worried if he knew that any of them were countries away.
