"You know," he whispered to her, leaning in for effect, "You're a bad liar." Mike then leaned back and folded his arms across his chest, giving her an unconvinced look. Both his eyebrows raised and his head slightly cocked to one side.
"Seriously though," he said, "You need to get out of your normal routine." He shrugged his shoulders and glanced around the slowly emptying cafeteria. "So I'll follow you home in my truck, we'll drop your car off, and then we'll go to Port Angeles," he told her, getting up from his seat. He didn't give her a chance to argue as he turned and walked toward the exit.

Elaine sat there not sure what to say now. She knew that she needed to find some other reason to get out of this. She was going threw all the idea she could used for it. She was trying to find some sort of thing to happen so that she could leave and not go.
"Man this guy is so ready to drive me crazy. I don't want to go and I not quick enough to come up with an excuse. Lets see I am sick that one will work right. I bet it will." She smiled. Sick was what she would use this time.

It wasn't long until school was over. Mike quickly grabbed what he needed from his locker and trekked out into the pouring rain. He quickly spotted the black Porsche he needed to find, and set off in that direction. He was going to meet Elaine here. And they were going to go shopping, or at least do something. Whether she wanted to or not. He found this girl wasn't as stubborn as Bella, or so he thought, and was past most of the 'zombie' stage of depression. Mike figured he could easily assist Elaine in getting out of her depression, unlike Bella, and he'd make a new friend in the process.
He leaned against the black sports car, the hood of his jacket up. He folded his arms across his chest and waited. Determined.

Elaine was walking out to her car when she saw someone leaning against it. She then frowned once she finally found out who it was leaning against her car. She held her backpack tighter as she walked toward the car gripping the keys in her hand. Once there she unlocked the passenger side putting her bag in it. Elaine then shut the door and walked around the car.
"You know I got to thinking about everything that was going on. The only reason I'm going with you is because I won't be able to get you out of my hair so lets get what ever you want done." Elaine looked at Mike knowing that she was not wanting to go shopping but since a deal was a deal she would do it. She just really wanted to get out of the rain so she opened her door and then got in and started the car. Before shutting the door she looked at him. "So now your the one in control what is the game plan."

Mike smiled as Elaine approached her car. He wanted to let out a single laugh at the reluctance emanating from her. He pushed away from the car and watched her put her bag in the car before acknowledging him.
He laughed at her words. "Yeah, you're probably right. Better to just get done with it. And then maybe, if you're lucky I'll leave you alone. No guarantees though," he smiled. Another chuckle escaped his mouth before he let her know the plan.
"I guess I'll follow you to your house, and then we'll head to Port Angeles," he shrugged his shoulders as he pulled his own keys out of his pocket. He turned and walked in the direction of his Suburban. "You lead the way," he called back to her before he continued to his truck.

Elaine nods when Mike started to walk to his car so she backed up and started to drive home. She knew that she hated shopping and that it would only get worse from here but she had promised and was not about to dare go and brake one of them. "okay so if he can't keep up that my fault."
Elaine was looking out her window seeing if he was driving behind her but she knew that it might be fun to go shopping with a guy for once. They would not tell her what to get that would make her look perfect. She would buy like three outfits and then go home and never wear them to make Mike happy.
Elaine smiled once she finally saw her house in the back ground once there they could decides who's car was going with who.

Mike quickly started his car and pulled out of his chosen parking space. Once out of the school parking lot he stayed close behind Elaine. Almost annoyingly close. He was determined to not let her weasel her way out of this. He now thought it would be nice to get out of Forks.
He saw Elaine pull in front of a house, her own, and Mike did the same. He parked the truck and got out. Standing at the back, he waited for Elaine. "You know, the slower you go, the longer this is going to be," he joked.

She laughed walking over to him and stood there. "If I would have went any faster I was not sure your car here could have kept up. So which would you like Me going slow but your car getting here in one piece. My favorite, I go fast and your car end up in like 10 different piece because it could not stay caught up."
She then walked to the other side and got into his car. "We have to take yours fact number 1 it is in front of mine. Which states mine would not be able to get out of here even if I tried. Then fact number 2 your car is bigger so it has more room. Now go so we can get this over with and I can come home."
Elaine really did not want to come once she thought about it. Shopping was not really her style. She then started to laugh hard thinking about who she was going with.

"Don't make fun of this beast," he laughed as Elaine made fun of his truck. "It's not my fault your some rich girl that can afford really nice sports cars," he told her. Mike liked his truck. It was very manly. And it hadn't failed him yet, so that was always a plus.
Mike jumped back into the driver's seat of his truck and stuck the key into the ignition. The truck roared to life and he pulled from the front of Elaine's house. He laughed at her bitter mood about going shopping. "If you don't want to go that bad, I can take you back," he told her stopping the car suddenly in the middle of the road. Luckily no one was behind them.

Elaine looked at him. She was not mad that he was calling her rich. "No I will go but so you know I am not rich I have about as much as you do. The only difference was I did not grow up in this small hillbilly town where there is no one really here that can date ad girl and give her a car. " She then looked out the window.
"So thank you very much my boyfriend bought this for me before he died." Elaine had tears down her face.

Mike was silent for a bit at the sight of Elaine's tears. He wasn't sure what to say. He hadn't intentionally meant to offend her. And he hadn't known that her boyfriend was the one that died, that was news to him. Gee Mike, just great, make the girl cry...he thought to himself.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled quietly, "I didn't mean to offend you." He continued to drive his truck outside of Forks, going slowly just in case Elaine decided she didn't want to go anymore.

Elaine looked over at him and smiled a little. "Hey it okay I know you did not mean to. It was my fault I was the one that refused to tell the the whole truth. I just get upset when people talk about it. That and when people assume things that are not right." She ran her hand through her hair looking out the window.
"So Tell me Mike you now know I am depressed about a dead boyfriend. What is there about you. what makes you tick." She knew that it had to be something she just did not know but she like too be friends with him if he wanted to. She knew she need someone to talk to so she did not have another blow up.

"Alright, I'll remember that, no assuming," he joked though he was still tense from the sudden onset of tears. His hands gripped the steering wheel as he drove on toward Port Angeles. He made a note to not talk to her about her deceased boyfriend, unless she brought it up, he couldn't deal with tears. And he wasn't going to continue to talk to her about it now, unless she told him she wanted to.
"Seriously, I don't have anything interesting to share with you," he huffed, "Is there anything in particular you wanted to know?" He shrugged his shoulders. There really wasn't much that he could share about himself. He was an only child, his dad owned the local outdoor sporting goods store...nothing remotely interesting.

Elaine laughed a little when he said no assuming. "Right because if you do then you might end up saying something that will lost you a friend one day. That friend might even become the best on if you let them to." Elaine leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes. "You can speed up you know I don't get car sick."
She looked at him when she was asked a question. "Well not really I just felt as if I have been telling you my life story the past couple of days. I was wondering what made you tick. " She then looked away. "I am willing to listen to you what ever you say."

"Right," he commented. He pushed his foot down on the gas a little to speed up. Guess they did kind of want to get there before it go too late. He flipped his windshield wipers onto high as the rain splattered onto the windshield harder.
"Well," he started, "I'm an only child. I've grown up in Forks. My dad owns the local outdoors sporting good store, Newton's Olympic Outfitters. I work there and help my dad out." He shrugged his shoulders. "See, nothing really interesting," he added.
