A little smile appeared on Claire's face when Quil mentioned some of her uncles. She loved them all in a different way, but she thought of how great it was that they could all be wolves together. "Really?" She was now paying less attention to her muffin and more to Quil. He had never told her much about being a wolf, but she didn't realize that there was much to be told. A little girl with enough imagination would just take such things to heart if her very favorite person told her they were true. She had never questioned them, and never thought she should. She just took it as truth and didn't think much deeper into it, other than wondering when the next time would be that Quil would let her see him. "Do you all play together?"
She was sure they had so much fun together, and she could pictures Quil's enormous brown figure running through the woods, chasing a brother. She wanted to go too, but Quil had never let her. It made her sad but he always made her feel better afterwards. She also thought that Sam and him were the only ones. But now that she learned that there were other wolves, the most important question immediately came to mind. "When do I get to be a wolf too?" At this, she glanced between Quil and her mother, and later to Emily and Sam. Did her mommy have to say it was ok?

Quil was happy to see that learning that her uncles were wolves as well didnt bother Claire but rather she seemed to think it was pretty cool. Quil then listened to her ask if they played together. "We dont really play around when we're wolves" Quil said slowly, wondering how to word this so it wouldn't scare her. "We take turns watching out for our reservation, we guard it and make sure everyone's safe...so its more like we're working when we're like that, at least most of the time"
Quil looked up to Sam, aching for his approval, which Quil didn't even know if he'd get even if he was saying everything right to Claire right now. When he looked back to Claire she asked him a question he had never expected and his eyes flitted between Sam and Emily and Rayen, eventually coming back to Claire. "Claire...not everyone ends up becoming a wolf. Its not something you pick, or that happens to everyone. Its why you cant tell your friends, because their family isn't like this..." Quil hesitated a moment wondering if he was helping her understand or making it worse for her "Sam and I, our family have always been Quileutes, like the other wolves that we've met, but not even everyone that lives on LaPush is a wolf. But you're still special because you know about us, like Aunt Emily and your mom."

Staying silent was hard for Sam, been the Alpha he was used to having a view on things and speaking his mind. He knew Quil must face this and tell Claire the secrets, but now his heart went out to the boy. A boy that’s all he was; a pup. He may not be part of Sam’s pack anymore that didn’t mean he should do all this alone. For the first time since the splitting of the pack Sam looked at Quil as more then just another wolf he was family. Sam knew that’s what Emily had been trying to get thought to him. Even Quil used the word family; Sam knew he was just stubborn.
Watching Quil falter a little with the words and reasoning Sam looked over to him offering a silent nod as he caught Quil’s eye. The boy was doing good, that he had to admit.
“Claire. See now you know our Quil’s secret; our family’s secret,” He nodded to Quil again trying to show the lad that’s what he was now; family. “It’s a big secret to keep, but I know you can do it. Huh? Remember when we kept Aunt Emily’s birthday present a secret? Well we have to keep this secret from everyone not in our family.” Sam hoped his words help, he hope he hadn’t put too much pressure on Claire’s 7 year old shoulders. And he hoped his intervention had given Quil a moment to collect his thoughts.

Listening to all that was said Rayen kept a close eye on her daughter, any change in her and she’d take her away from all this. Claire deserved the chance to be a child; she didn’t need all this craziness filling her head even if it was true. As Quil listed off the other pack members Rayen watched her daughters face light up, she loved the boys on the La Push reservation; her other family.
Innocence spilled from Claire as she asked if the other wolves all played together. Of course a child would see them as children playing, running and having fun Rayen didn’t know the ins and outs of it all, but she was sure there was more to it. Rayen had to marvel that Quil really did have a handle on explaining this to Claire and she was thankful for his gentle honesty.
This conversation was getting deeper and more intricate and Rayen just hoped Claire would take it all in. The most important part of it all was keeping it a secret, as her mother Rayen would make sure she understood that. Rayen kept silent now and let Quil do the talking, this was part of their bonding and even if Rayen wasn’t completely ok with it yet she’d give it a chance. Been in the room with her sister and brother in law certainly helped her feel a little more relaxed at this
