[Pre-Breaking Dawn - after CheezIts and a Fire Truck!] Embry's shift didn't start for another few hours, but the night had been too uncommonly clear to miss out on. It wasn't something that happened too often; the stars appearing out at night. It wasn't because they were too close to a city that obscured the night sky, but because they lived in the corner of the world where clouds liked to hang out. Grounded and sent to his room almost every night, Embry usually took a nap before he snuck out before attending to his duties as a Quileute protector. But he'd looked out the window, and saw that the sky was actually there for a change. He'd jumped out his window like every night, and had phased just as he was under tree cover. Just hangin' out for a bit before I take over he had thought to the brothers that were still on patrol.
He had sprinted towards a clearing he'd discovered just a few weeks after he'd made his transformation. It was about a half dozen trees that had fallen over; they'd explained to him that Paul and Jared had gotten too excited and had made a mess. But it ended up being one of Embry's spots. He folded his legs and laid on his side, resting his head on the ground, but still with the sky within full view. It was totally different like this, when you were a wolf. Everything had more life and detail. He looked up at the uncommon sight of the skies, trying to pick out constellations and the stories behind them. He wondered if those legends were true too. Now that he was actually part of a legend, he wasn't as skeptical[tag: Noel]

Slowly stepping through the house she avoided all the old squeaky floor boards as she walked down the long hallway to her bedroom passing her father's room as she did. Peeking in she with held a laugh at the sight of him passed out and snoring loudly his mouth open, she wondered what he was dreaming about. Shaking her head she continued down the hallway and entered the front living room before she slowly opened the front door and slipped out closing it behind her. Inhaling deeply once it was safe she smiled and stood still a moment taking in the crisp chilled night air, looking around she smiled and began to dart across the road pulling her shirt off once she was hdden into the woods never breaking her strides as she went fomr human to wolf form. The forest floor was damp and musky tonight as the moon shown down glinting on her almost silver coat with her black tipped ears pricking this way and that trying to catch even the littlest hint of something. Throwing her voice into her mind she smiled and caught the voice she hunted, breaking into a quicker stride she moved swiftly through the dense woods heading to where the voice had come. Breakinginto the moons rays she saw him Embry laying on his side in his wolf form, she smiled mentally as she appraoched him sitting beside him on her haunchesand cocking her head as she thought, "So what are you doing up here all by your lonesome?"

Embry's gaze had just left Orion's Belt and slow made its way try to find another set of stars he knew when his mind registered someone else that had not been there before. He felt the inquiring note in his brother's minds in addition to his own, and they finally recognized the new girl when they heard the tone of her thoughts. To his surprise, she was looking for him. If he'd been human form, he would have blushed. As it was, it was tangible in his thoughts that he was a bit giddy when the first thoughts they heard from her was the search for Embry. His furry ears perked up when he heard her physical approach, lifting his head off the ground, but staying in his spot.
He internally smiled back, welcoming her company. They'd only met less than a week ago, and she was already considered one of them. She ended up being way cooler than Leah, though Leah wasn't entirely her fault, he reminded himself. He heard the soft rustle of the leaves underneath her paws and she padded next to him and sat. He let out a low rumble that could easily be recognized as a chuckle and put his head down to search the skies again. Just taking in the skies before they run away again. Enjoy it while you can, it doesn't happen often.

Noel smiled to herself mentally as she shook her silver head slightly at him. Lifting her head to the clouds she inhaled deeply her muzzle twitching with little jittery movements, if she had been in human form she would be twisting her hair inbetween her slim fingers nervously. She knew she had an attraction to Embry and guessed he sensed it also, this was an odd sensation that trailed through her it was like nothing she had ever felt. Relaxing into a lying position Noel crossed her paws over one another, hearing Embry speak of the clear night sky her muzzle would make it seem as if a smile was appearing. Looking over to him she laughed mentally, "It is beautiful...i've always loved the night. my father tells me i am practically nocternal." she shook her canine head to shake it from her thoughts the last thing she wanted to discuss was her father. Letting her golden eyes scan over Embrys glinting coat she kept her feelings out of her head for once, saying to him, "So Embry...is this a usual thing you do? i mean come up here alone that is?"

Embry's generally easy going nature was slightly shaken as Noel's thoughts reached him. He was pleased that she thought of him differently than their other brothers, he had to admit that it was interested himself, but he wondered if it was fair that they could read their minds like this. The nervous tone that streaked her thoughts only emphasized the ones that were nagging his own mind. They had both felt a little extra amped up when they were around each other since they'd met. It was harder when none of their thoughts were their own. The nervous tinge to his thoughts turned to irritation instead. They both knew that they liked each other. Exactly where this was going was difficult to tell soley based on the nature of the supernatural relationship they shared with the others.
He looked into the wolf's eyes and his tongue rolled out from his mouth in a little grin he couldn't stop from appearing. Hold on. He wasn't sure if this was better or not, but it felt like the right thing to do considering. He quickly got up from his star-gazing spot and trotted to the nearest tree cover. He quickly centered himself and felt the trembling gather as he phased back to his human self. He took his cargo shorts that were tied to his calf and deftly slipped them on. Walking back to the small clearing, he hoped Noel didn't think he was hiding anything from her. There were just times when it was nice to try things out normal, even if all the other variables were everything but normal.

Noel shot up fomr her laying position as Embry shot into the woods his thought s were a mystery once more as he emerged from the woods in human form. Rolling her canine eyes she followed his lead and padded into the woods and phased back and slipped into her clothes. Emerging back out of the woods in a pair of shorts and a tank top, she smiled and walked over and sat back beside him laughing as she did, "Maybe now they whole lot of them dont have to knwo what we are talkin about." she let things fall slient once more as she tapped her fingers on her bare legs. Every now and then glancing over to seek a quick look at Embry.

Relief washed over as Noel phased as well, and seemed to be on the same wavelength with him. He had taken his spot in the clearing again as she changed, glancing once up but now waiting for her to come back. He chuckled at her comment about the brothers still on patrol who were audience to what had happened thus far. "I'm not sure if it's better," he told her laughing. "Since they can't hear anything now, they're going to assume much, much worse." The thought alone made Embry's skin deepen, though it would be hard to tell with the moonlight washing over their faces. Their brothers were supportive about what looked like might be happening between him and Noel as far as they knew, but the notion only made Embry more nervous.
A surge of anxiety rose again as they both fell into silence. He ruffled his hair a bit, watching a few leaves and small twigs dislodge and fall to the ground, trying not to look stupid and get caught looking at her. He thought it was worse when their minds were linked, but he wasn't so sure now. He wasn't so sure what to do now, so he resorted to answering the question she'd posed before he had changed. "I usually come here after big fights with my mom," he admitted to her. As far as he knew, Noel knew that his relationship with his mother was rocky, but she didn't know the details. It was only a matter of time before someone mentioned it, or Leah opened her big mouth. "But nights like these when there's actually stars are usually a good time to come out." He thought it sounded lame, some 17 year old kid wanting to look at stars. But when you're a werewolf that protected your family from bloodsucking vampires, the stars were a comfort sometimes.

Noel tugged at her shorts lightly thinking she should have probably wore something else now, her shorts seemed shorter than she remembered. Wrapping her arms around her knees Noel laid her head on her arms and looked over at Embry as he spoke smiling as he spoke of their borthers saying their imaginations were probably on overload trying to think of what they were doing. Noel grasped the thought and could feel the color rush to her tanned cheeks knowing the sudden pink tint of her cheeks would show laughing she sighed, "I think they are all waiting for us to pop in and have inpure thoughts of eachother..." she laughed the last part before it all fell silent again and they both shifted uneasily. Watching as a few leaves swirled to the ground rolling off Embry's shoulders, Noel laughed lightly as she ruffled her own hair and watched bits of moss from the forest floor drift down her shoulders. Listening as Embry answered her question from earlier saying how he usually cam up here after a fight with his mom. Noel nodded she kknew how that was her father was always breathing down her neck so to speak, smiling she sighed, "I understand what you mean about fighting with parents i mean...i love the night sky it reminds me of nights i'd sit on my roof with my brother and watch the stars. But now i only sit alone...ever since Zach died my dad has hanged he's just not the same anymore." Noel found her self shocked at how the words had just come out, she never spoke of her brother or family problems to anyone but with Embry she felt talking about it was safe.

Embry's color deepened again as Noel voiced what he had implied. Surely he was gonna take a lot of crap that night when his patrol started. But he knew it was good-natured at least. He wondered how much it would take to get him really defensive, and hoped his brothers wouldn't push him that far. "They'll keep their mouth shut if they know what's good for them," he told her, chuckling softly. Now that he thought of it, perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to get a it upset and rough around the guys a bit if they got on his nerves, it would at least release some of the tension that had built up.
If Noel wasn't into all the details about his mother and his ancestry, he was kind of glad that she didn't ask. It was sure that she would find out eventually, and he would even tell her himself if she asked, but it was nice to have something to yourself sometimes. He only had a slight idea of what Noel was referring to, the highlight being her brother. His head automatically dipped down slightly, hearing her talk about it. He couldn't imagine losing one of his brothers, though it was something they thought of every day now with vampires that were not the Cullens that seemed to be finding their way. "I'm sorry about your brother," he told her, his eyes tracing the big dipper a few times. He hadn't needed to say it out loud. The pack had offered her their mental sympathies when she had told them the highlights, but it seemed more real and personal when he said it out loud to her.

Noel tugged at her shorts lightly again as Embry gave his condelces on her borthers death. For some reason as he did it meant alot to her but also saddened her she smiled saying as she reached out and placed her hand ontop of his without looking at him, "Thanks." she suddenly had a burst of excitment once her hand met his. Smiling she jumped up and grasped his hand attempting to pull him up laughing as she said, "Come on Embry!! Dance with me! i dont want to be all gloomy tonight. I want to have fun!" she relased his ahand and twirled around her hair spinning around her face a smile spreading wider by the second. She had burst of energy but this one was set off by Embry something about when she touched his hand gave her an electric charge it seemed. She probably seemed crazy to him at the moment but she was just happy since she had met Embry and Quil at the store that day everything had been good. She had a new family and was always laughing which felt great.

Embry felt better when his instincts were proven right. His personal sympathies were something he thought he should give her, and she'd appreciated them. Suddenly the warm touch of her hand was over his own, he felt himself blush again, a wave of contentment washing over him. He hadn't known this girl very long, but there was something other than the basic physical attraction that drew him to her. It was hard to know, since their minds were linked so very often, but there was just something extra that the rest of the pack didn't quite get.
Unable to resist, he had turned his hand over so that he could hold her in it, but before he could get a grip she had already jumped up and started dancing. Startled, he barely noticed that he had stood up with her, but refrained from dancing. "Uh... I don't really dance," he admitted, laughing softly. He watched her twirl around on the forest floor like a maniac and decided that it was this that was so special. Each of them had their way of dealing with their troubles, this was hers. She danced and laughed and twirled. Embry admired it. "I can help you with the twirling, though, if you like." He offered her his hand again, providing some stability for her twirling needs.

Noel spun around him laughing as she did Embry seemed to bring out the old Noel in her the one that never cried unless in joy and she loved it. Her feet moving in joyous quick movements she paused momentarily at his words and laughed, "Everyone dances..." smiling she pranced around him her shoulder brushing his. Stopping as he extended his hand to her Noel placed her hand in his and twirled tight perfect twirls keeping her eyes on his so not to get dizzy. After a couple to turns she stopped facing him and just looked at him before linking her tiny fingers compared to his larger ones. Her fingers weaved between his and seemed to fit perfectly, Noel looked up athis eyes and smiled a twang of something fluttered inside her. Saying as she stared at him, "Please dance with me? ill show you..."

His laughter came easily, watching the girl before him dance under the moonlight. "Not everyone," he replied. He suddenly felt at an uncomfortable center of attention as she twirled in circles around him in the middle of the clearing. He watched her in awe as she exuded this joy that he hadn't seen before. Since they'd met, she was always happy and upbeat. But her dancing like this was a different kind. Watching her happy gave him a sense of satisfaction that he hadn't felt before. It was as if this happiness could only be seen under this sky on this night. He felt lucky to have been there to see it, and wondered if he was part of the equation too.
He was suddenly struck with soft, smiling eyes, pleading for his participation. Well, that was unfair if she was gonna do that to get her way. He tried to look away, but only ended up grinning. "Trust me," he said laughing again, "Me dancing is a bad idea."

Noel spun in a circle away fomr him playfully a smile on her face as she laughed, "Okay then what do suppose we do then?" she leapt onto a nearby fallen log and stood watching him. Her toes curling rubbing against the rough bark of the tree as he stood a little ways away. Noel couldn't stand it she wanted to be closer to him jumping off the tree she twirled her way to him once more. Stopping short as she stood her toes touching his she looked down a smile creeping over her face as she looked back up at him slowly meeting his soft welcoming eyes as her blue green eyes twinkled in his. Reaching her fingers out she traced his own hand as she sighed, "Embry....Can i tell you something?" her fingers still tracing his as she looked at him.

Embry relaxed a little as she danced away from him, hoping it let him off the hook from making him dance. The feeling was immediately replaced by an unpleasant feeling that coincided with the distance she had managed to put between them. He was about to step forward and approach her again, but she was more sure and quicker than he was and quickly appeared beside him again. He felt the tingle of her toes touching his own, sending ripples of electricity up his legs.
A grin appeared again on his features when her hand found his and he was suddenly lost in the gleam the moon had given her eyes. Or was that her own personal gleam? He wasn't sure, but he was almost at a loss to answer her question. She could tell him anything she wanted of course, he just wished he could guarantee that he wouldn't be awkward and dorky. To mask his nervousness, he used his most easily accessed weapon in the form of his lamest humor. "You don't have to tell me," he said mockingly, though his concentration was mostly on the connection of their hands, "I know you stole Quil's teddy bear, but I promised not to tell." He tried to keep his face amused, but he was suddenly anxious over what she had actually planned to say. she was looking at him like no one else had; like she knew something that he hadn't discovered about himself yet. It was unsettling, but he somehow knew he could trust her with it.
