Bella sighed deeply as the time came towards the start of her next class. Luckily she had learned her timetable off by heart whilst she was in the office, which man she didn't have to get it out to check; she knew she had biology. Lunch had actually passed by quite quickly, talking to Angela about the Cullens and life in general. Of course, Mike and Jessica hadn't been shy about sharing their views, but she was already growing used to their ways and knew that she would soon consider them as friends.
What of this new class, though? Biology. She had been in the advanced class in Phoenix and judging by the calibre of her earlier classes, she shouldn't find it too difficult. But then it wasn't the work that she was afraid of. Science always held many hazards for clumsy people, and mixing natural clumsiness with nerves and a whole bunch of new people was surely a recipe for disaster. Her stomach squirmed unpleasantly as she considered this, imagining all he weird and wonderful ways she could make a fool out of herself in a science lab. She turned to Angela at that point, a hopeful smile gracing her features.
"I don't suppose you have biology next, do you?"
She raised her eyebrows, widening her already round eyes. Her peripheral vision working overtime, she caught a small movement from Edward's table and she briefly entertained the idea that hey might have a class together. I wonder if that would make things better or worse? she wondered to herself. Whilst she did want to get to know the boy, she already couldn't bare the thought of exposing all her many flaws to this perfect specimen of humanity.

Edward turned his eyes back towards his family, not wanting to stare any longer. The other students at the new girl's table had already noticed his attention and he didnt need to be caught staring at her for half of lunch. He was still frustrated by not being able to read her mind like the others, but decided he would talk to Carlisle about this later, see what he thought of the situation.
He watched Alice pick up the apple from her tray and wrinkled his nose slightly in disgust. Was she actually thinking about eating that? Thankfully she put it down. Though he was no longer looking at Bella and Angela he could still hear them talking (and Angela's thoughts). She'll be in my Biology class...and of course I'm the only one with an open seat next to them. He thought to himself. The other students had avoided sitting next to him. It was smart of them, though they didnt realize it. There was something inside of them that thought it better to keep their distance. It was a survival instinct.

Frustration and Confusion seemed to be the prominent emotions at the moment. Jasper was far too distracted to pay attention. He was uncomfortable and it was no secret that his need to hunt was greater than the others. He was not able to go on as long as his brothers and sisters without feeding. An inconvenience no doubt, but an inevitable one. They had accepted him the way he was -- past and all -- so how could he ask for anything more?
His discomfort was also due to the multiple humans in this room. How easy it would be to approach one of them, lure them away and. . . Jasper quickly calmed himself down. His expression was calm, but his mind was going insane. He had practiced maintaining composure in public at least. . . once they hunted, then he could express his desperate need to feed.
He looked at the table in front of them, not bothering to divert his attention to the new girl that everyone expressed great interest in. He had no interest in her, but judging from what the others were feeling right now. . . there seemed to be something about her. Still, he did not look.
He did however look at Alice when she picked up the apple before placing it back down. He lightly smiled at her disgust with the food, which was similar to his own dislike for it. He slightly adjusted his seat so that he was a little closer to her. And once again, he stared silently at the table. Just a few more hours. That was it. A few more hours.

Angela saw Bella let out the sigh. It was a familiar response near the end of lunch. No one ever wanted to get back to classes. Angela finished up the last of her drink, while she gave Bella few moments with her own thoughts. There was no need to overwhelm the girl with conversation. It looked like Angela would have a chance to talk with Bella again and they could become friends.
She then heard Bella ask about her next class. "I'm afraid I've already had Bio earlier today, normally I would be in your class. I had to sit in on another class this week so I could work on the paper before deadline...but if you want I can walk with you to your next class, I'm headed that way anyway to get my film developed" She offered, thinking she could at least help to make sure she didnt get lost along the way. "We were getting ready for our lab next week with microscopes, learning how to identify the phases of mitosis"

((Given the absense of anyone playing Mike, I've just temped a couple of lines for him - I hope that's okay.))
Bella smiled at Angela's kindness and began to play with the cap from her drink, spinning it in her fingers - not very dexterously, it had to be said. She glanced up at the dark featured girl.
"Phases of mitosis?" she asked, sounding a little disappointed. She's already done that one and whilst, on the one hand, that probably meant that she could sit back and take a breather in the class, but on the other it meant that she would probably have a hard time concentrating on the old material. The bottle cap suddenly skittered out of her fingers and clattered its way a metre or so down the table and on to the floor. She stared at it, appalled, and bashfully got up to collect it from where it lay, her cheeks stained a deep red. She was eager to ignore the event at all when she got back to her seat and raised her eyebrows at Angela.
"It's no trouble, if you have somewhere else to be," she told her, sucking in a deep breath, now consciously returning to the next class issue.
"I have biology next, I can walk her," a voice sounded from the other end of the table, a voice that Bella already recognised from the morning classes - Mike Newton - he seemed like a nice, normal guy, a little overinterested, maybe. Bella cast an extremely unsure smile at Mike and returned her gaze to Angela.

"Yeah, it gets kind of boring near the end just watching him draw on the board" Angela commented. She could see that Bella wasn't very excited about their current subject for the week. She then heard the clanging of the bottle cap as it hit the floor. Angela turned away, deciding to check her bag to make sure everything she needed for next period was there, not wanting to stare as Bella was obviously embarrassed.
"It's no trouble, the newspaper office is close by, I--" Angela said getting cut off by Mike as he eagerly jumped in, offering to walk her to class. She smiled back at Bella wondering if she'd prefer Mike to walk her. "If you want to walk with him, that's fine, we can walk together when I'm back to my normal schedule and in your Biology class again"

Bella raised her eyebrows, surprised at the eagerness of the baby-faced blond boy. It was flattering really, sort of, though she wasn't in the least bit interested in him in that way. Her brown eyes travelled between Mike and Angela until a soft smile appeared on her face.
"Well if it's on the way to the Newspaper Office, then the three of us could walk together, until the split point, right?"
Yes, that would work in her attempt to not hurt Mike's feelings whilst maintaining her interest in Angela as a friend. Well, that was so long as Angela wasn't bending the truth when she said the Biology Lab was on the way to the office. She couldn't see why the girl would lie, though, it would be just a polite to say that she had somewhere else to be. She looked over to the soft, blond boy, who nodded enthusiastically, though there was something in his eyes that seemed a little put out. She couldn't think why that would be, though.
So that meant that Mike was in her biology, Angela usually was but wasn't today. She couldn't help but wonder who else might be there and found her eyes wandering back to the Cullens' table, lingering there for a split second before she realised what she was doing and looked away. She did attempt to make it look like she was just viewing the dining hall in general, but she couldn't be sure if she pulled that off effectively.

"Sure that sounds like a great idea!" Angela said, appreciating that Bella hadn't just decided to ditch her for Mike. Angela knew that Jessica wouldn't do the same, any opportunity to spend with Mike Newton the other girl would gladly take. Angela glanced over at Mike, hoping he wasn't too upset with her for joining them, but he seemed to take it in stride, probably hoping Angela would leave them early enough that he'd still have a chance to talk with Bella alone.
Angela looked back over at Bella and saw her looking back over at the Cullen's table before generally looking around the cafeteria. It was then that Angela realized that there was only one person in their biology class that wasn't already paired up with someone. Bella would be assigned to work with Edward, and from the looks exchanged between the two of them, she couldn't be sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing.

Bella let out an inward sigh of relief as her two classmates seemed to approve of her diplomatic plan. She wasn't eager to become subsumed by a niche, though that wasn't a problem that she had in Phoenix. Then again, the niches in Phoenix were probably the size of an entire class here. In all, both Mike and Angela seemed like nice people and she didn't want to offend either of them by appearing to prefer one to the other.
Now that her anxiety over the logistics of the next class were over, she focused her attention almost entirely on her potential friends - just allowing about 3% to occasionally roam towards the intriguing bronze haired beauty at the Cullens' table. She smiled at Angela.
"So you're on the newspaper staff?" she asked, pleasently. "Is it any good? Our old school newspaper was a little... well... I don't like to be rude, but the journalism left something to be desired."

"Yeah, I'm the school's photographer, capturing all the moments you'll later wish you had forgotten." Angela joked with a smile. It was really the perfect position for Angela, she would much prefer to be behind the camera than in front of it, never attempting to be the center of attention. It was probably one of the reasons her and Jessica got along so well, Angela never tried to steal her moment.
"I'm not sure if you'd call the paper any good..." She said with a slight shrug of her shoulders. She didn't want to diss any of her fellow classmates and hoped it wasn't coming out that way. "I mean, we have some good writers, but not much happens at the school to make the paper too exciting. No big scandels or anything. You would be the most interesting article of the year if you let any of the reporters do a feature on you"

Bella's reaction was instantaneous and so pronounced that it was almost comic. Her round eyes widened to their fullest extent in horror, her mouth falling open ever so slightly and she raised her hands to show her palms, knocking her elbows on the table slightly. She couldn't think of a thing she would dislike more than being grilled by someone she didn't know, about all sorts of inconsequential things that would make or break her her time at the school. She had made up her mind to try to at least pretend she was enjoying her time in Forks, but how much could she keep the pretence up under formal interview questions?
"Oh no, no, I'm not," she mumbled incomprehensively. "No... I'm sure the paper can find something more interesting than me to report on!"
Oh no, what have I let myself in for, she thought to herself furiously. Of course the paper is a little sleepy, the entire town is! But even so... Maybe Angela's joking. Oh no, I'm not offending her am I?
Her cheeks flushed a deep pink colour and her expression neutralised a little. She now merely looked a bit embarrassed and quite apologetic.
"I'm sorry," she said after a moment or so of awkward silence. "I'm guess I'm shy, and I'm really not very interesting."

Angela saw Bella's stunned reaction and hoped that she hadn't offended the girl who she hoped would be her new friend. She was glad that she didn't mention how as soon as word of Bella's arrival was in the school, the editors had already started planning a feature around her. She then became worried, maybe Bella was now thinking that the only reason Angela had talked to her at all was to try to get her to agree to this. That was the furthest thing from the truth! She would have to try to make sure it didn't seem that way, and let anyone she ran into at the newspaper office know the feature was off.
"No, don't apologize its okay" Angela said with a smile trying to comfort them both at the moment. She liked Bella more knowing that she wasn't interested in being the front page news story. "I'm shy too, I know if I was you I wouldn't want anyone to do a story on me either. "

Bella exhaled in relief at Angela’s response. It did really seem that the two girls were somewhat kindred in spirit, both shy and retiring and that was nice and unexpected to find on her first day. She extended a weak smile at the dark featured girl and sat back in her seat again.
“They’re not that eager for an interview are they?” she asked, tentatively, her brown eyes shifting from side to side at imagined queues of newspaper journalists. She half smiled at the other girl and began to play with the bottle cap she had retrieved from the ground a few minutes before.

Alice looked around the Cafeteria. Everyone was chattering and gossiping about simple human matters. Though Alice could still see this Bella girl flickering through Edwards future. It was very odd. It was a bit like he wanted to meet her sometime. I wished I had his gift at the moment, then I could know what he was really thinking.
I looked at this Bella girl. She looked bored. She was talking to Angela, who had always seemed like a nice girl. They looked like good friends.

Glancing at her food, Rosalie decided that she'd done a decent job at making it look like she'd eat part of it. The rest of her salad had been rumpled around enough to make it seem that she'd lost interest half way through. She stifled a giggle when Emmett cracked open his own apple with his bare hands, but quickly glanced around them to see if anyone had caught it. They were safe for now. Everyone seemed to be interested in the new human girl that started school that day. Rose gave her a cursory appraisal while she questioned the girl nearest to her about her family (as the newest students always did) and quickly found her as plain as the other girls in Forks. It seemed they were all doomed with uniform awkwardness and lack of grace.
In the same glance she realized that her 'youngest' brother and sister were also watching her. She immediately recognized the expression in their faces. Edward looked like he was being nosy again and peeking into the girl's mind, and Alice's eyes glazed over for seconds at a time as visions of the future struck her mind. She rolled her eyes and was glad her second life hadn't come with an extra power as it had with those two. They were sometimes impossible to life with when they knew your business all the time.
