Over at the Cullen table, Edward gave a light laugh and shook his head. He hadn't been having any conversation with any of his siblings, but he knew they'd all understand that he was just eavesdropping on the humans again, and would brush off what would appear to most people to be an oddly timed laugh. He found it very amusing that Jessica's explaination of his rejection of her was that he must be waiting for his parents to adopt him a girlfriend. He wished he could see her face if she learned that Carlisle had already tried that with Rosalie but he rejected that too. Then what would her theories be?
He kept trying to hear the thoughts of the new girl Bella, but all he could hear was what Jessica had heard Bella say. She thought that maybe the Cullens were just shy. She was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. If those were her true thoughts, than Edward knew they woudn't have to worry much. She didn't see his family as freaks but as rather misunderstood students. He didn't see anything worthy of alarming his siblings.

Bella smiled and nodded a little at Jessica’s response, though she could tell that she liked her own version of the Cullens better. It was true, though, if she did have a class with one of them after lunch she would be able to make her own judgements. She wondered, idly, if they were more talkative with others when separated - if they weren’t then it wouldn’t matter if they were in her class or not. She flushed a little as she noticed Jessica’s eyes move towards the clock, and she looked down at the table. She was probably boring the other girl, the Cullens were probably old news here, and if they irritated… that wasn’t fair to her. A look of resolution appeared on Bella’s face as she convinced herself to sacrifice the conversation about the Cullens and focus on something that she hoped was a little closer to Jessica’s heart.
“So, do you know any place good for shopping around here? I kind of need to supplement my winter wardrobe,” she squirmed a little bit, knowing that wasn’t the real reason she wanted to find some good shops. “And the library isn’t quite up my old one, so I thought I could buy a few books…”
She smiled a little, thanks to Charlie’s generous gift, she had plenty of money.

Jessica smiled. Apparantly Bella wanted to go shopping. She couldn't really see her being the shopping type but it really wouldn't hurt.
"Well theres not THAT many places really but there's always Port Angeles. It's a little ways away from here. We should definately go shopping together! Like a girls thing you know, bonding or whatever. Get to know the new girl a little better," she said with a somewhat sincere smile.

Bella grinned at Jessica as she agreed to go shopping with her. It would be nice to go out with the girls, even if shopping wasn’t her favourite pastime. Seriously, though, it would do a lot to ease both Charlie and her mother’s concern at her sudden move to the place that she had made no secret of hating for the last few years. She twirled on her chair to face Angela.
“We should definitely arrange something, maybe I can get to know you guys better too - do you want to come Angela?”
She smiled hopefully at the other girl, hoping that she would. While Jessica seemed nice enough, Angela seemed much more like Bella herself, which always helped.

Angela's face lit up in a smile as Bella invited her to go along with them on their shopping trip. It felt nice that the new girl wanted to include her. Bella seemed like such a nice person, Angela was already thinking they'd make good friends. It was hard not to like Bella, so she could see why the boys were so interested. Even the Cullens appeared to be taking a small interest in her from their own table.
"Yeah, I'd love to come! Thanks" Angela said with an appreciative smile. "It'd be great to get to know you better, especially when we don't have classes to get in the way"

Bella couldn’t help but sign with relief, inwardly, of course, as Angela agreed to come shopping with them. Whilst she liked Jessica at face value, there was no doubt that her inherent bubbliness would drive Bella to distraction on a shopping trip, Angela being there would help neutralise her slightly. She grinned at her new friends and sat back in her chair.
“You guys have something to buy too, right?” she inquired. Though teenage girls usually needed no excuse to go on a shopping trip, Bella did not really fall into that category and would feel rather guilty dragging them all the way to Port Angeles for nothing.

Angela smiled as she saw that Bella seemed genuinely happy that Angela had agreed to go shopping with them. It didn't seem as though she had only invited her along to be polite (as Angela often wondered of Jessica when she was discussing plans with Mike and Eric while Angela was around). She didn't mind being the afterthought, but it was nice to see she was wanted as well.
"Finding something to go shop for shouldn't be a problem, right Jess" She said winking at her friend. "It's not usually to hard to find something you like at Port Angeles, even if you just go with the intent to browse"

Bella grinned at Angela, really settling into the conversation with the two girls. Maybe she was wrong about Forks, maybe it wasn’t so bad as she thought. Then again, this was only one lunch hour, she still had all the classes, all the rain. The endless, never-ending rain to contend with. Still, having friends at school would make that more bearable and she only had to be here until college, when she could go sun-seeking again. In fact, she decided then and there to begin a college fund. She could put the rest of the money that she had saved up for a car in it, well, except whatever she spent in Port Angeles.
“Oh dear,” she commented, her tone light. “Should I kiss goodbye to my college fund now, then?”

Jessica laughed. "Ohhh we can ALWAYS find something to shop for! And don't worry, I mean believe it or not you can get really great bargains in Port Angeles, not many, but there are some. Come on Bella, put away the college fund stuff and live a little!" she said smiling.
"But anyway, we could definately go shopping..I need some new clothes most definately! I mean look what I'm wearing," she said looking down at her jeans and pink polo. "Not that it isn't nice or anything but it's just like..from last year."

Bella grinned politely at Jessica’s enthusiasm for all things shopping, but she knew she had come to Forks because of her sensible head. If she was going to get through the next two awful, rainy years here, then she would have to keep her sensible head on. The only time she could allow herself for frivolity would be in the name of appearances. She knew that although Charlie was much like her and not very good at realising when things were not right, he would notice eventually if she never went out with friends. Plus, she wasn’t entirely sure what she could fill the multitude of emails she would be sending to her mother with if she never had any fun.
“Maybe you’re right,” she offered Jessica, begrudgingly, working to keep her face genuine as she humoured her. She smiled brightly, but squirmed a little in her seat, which would be a giveaway to anyone who knew her. Thankfully, no one here did. “It’s a date then?” she asked, her tone slightly unsure, but enthusiastic all the same.

"Of course it is!" she said excitedly. "When do you want to go then? Maybe if it's actually nice out we could go this weekend. Not that we actually need nice weather to go shopping anyway. You really have to cross your fingers for that one here," she said laughing a little.

Bella extended Jessica a wry grin as she mentioned the weather; it was clearly an irresolvable issue in this little town. She stretched a little and shuffled in her seat, a purely human response to having sat in the same position for too long. She twisted her lips a little.
“The weekend sounds good, depends whether Charlie - uh, my dad - feels I’ve been here long enough to let me go,” she smiled at herself. “But, knowing Charlie, this weekend should be fine.”
Her expression twisted to become quite wistful, “So, don’t you ever get used to the rain?”
