Elaine walked into the Cafeteria. She held her try with fruit, salad and then some juice. She looked around for a place to sit down and eat it. It was hard since she had not made really any friends yet. She started to walk over to a table that she notice was empty. She was going to sit there and then maybe study.
*okay so Elaine you can do this. Come on you have to eat and your not going to do like you did in your old school and eat in the bathroom* She thought as she walked knowing that her mom moved her here to start over.

"Well..." Angela started, hesitating a little before answering Bella's question. She was worried telling her how enthusiastic the journalists for the paper were to get an interview with her would scare her away. Some of the students had even talked about going down to the police station to speak with Chief Swan about his thoughts on having his daughter living with him again.
At the same time Angela knew she couldn't lie to Bella, even a small white lie. She didn't want to start their friendship out with lies, that if found out could make Bella hate her down the road. "Maybe a little anxious for one...but don't worry, I'll get them straightened out when I'm down there today"

Bella shot Angela an extremely grateful smile, which extended beyond her lips and into her soulful brown eyes.
"That would be great, thank you Angela," she twisted the bottle cap around in her fingers again, glancing around a little as if she expected one of the budding journalists to pop up and question her at any moment. "It's not that I don't want to be a part of Forks, I just can't see myself ever fitting in after all that fuss is made over my first day..."
She sighed a little, looking blank. "I have to be honest - I just don't get it. In my school in Phoenix a new kid would have trouble being noticed at all, I guess I never expected all of this..."

Angela was glad to see that Bella didn't look angry after finding out how anxious the reporters were. "It's my pleasure" She responded, glad to help out Bella and do anything she could to help her feel more comfortable.
She started feeling bad hearing Bella say she couldn't see herself fitting in. She wanted Bella to feel like a part of the group. She wanted to see her happy and making friends. "It's only your first day, you'll feel differently soon enough" She said trying to convince her.
"Besides, it can get really mundane here sometimes, any change to our normal routines, like a new student, is something that causes attention." Angela said hoping she was helping. "When my twin brothers were born, you should've seen the town, you'd think my mother had 10 kids at once or something, everyone trying to figure out if they looked exactly alike, tons of attention...but it passes over, I promise. We'll all get used to you"

Bella laughed a little, grinning across at Angela’s story about her mother. She was eager to skip over her attempt to reassure Bella that she would fit in. She appreciated the sentiment from Angela, and if all the kids in school were like her then, yes, maybe, but they weren’t. Angela was the pleasant exception to the rule. It pleased Bella to be in the process of making friends with her and she didn’t want to misrepresent herself to the other girl. It was nice to have friends, but she had no big desire to become part of a ‘group’.
“Oh, I don’t know,” she said to Angela, light, playful sarcasm in her voice. “Twins are a pretty big thing anywhere, you know. So is it just brothers you have, or are there any more?”
She continued to smile contentedly, always being interested in finding out about others’ siblings as she would never have one herself.

Jessica grabbed her food from the line. Of course her mother had forgotten to pack her lunch on the first day of school. She noticed Angela had invited the new girl Bella to sit with them at her table. She plopped her tray down on the table and sat down.
"Hey girls, how's things going so far Bella?" she asked though she knew very well practically everyone in the school was talking about her.

Bella looked up and blushed as one of the few people in Forks High she knew by name sat down by her. Jessica Stanley was beautiful, and confident, and apparently popular within the school and, for some reason, seemed to have taken a shine to Bella that morning. Bella couldn’t fathom why, but the attention she gave her caused her to flush instantly.
“Fine, thanks, Jessica,” she spoke shyly, just putting the name out there to prove that she could remember peoples’ names eventually, though she was proving it more to herself than anyone else. She began to fiddle with the bottle cap once more to excise some of the nervous tension that had struck her system. “Angela’s just been filling me in on some of the ways of the school, who people are… and stuff.”
Her eyes wandered automatically to the Cullen table before she realised what they were doing, partly out of wanting to avoid the probing gaze of the teenage girl, partly because they were just drawn there.

Jessica smiled and nodded. "Yeah I bet it must be crazy for you Bella. I mean you came from Phoenix right? Definately a change of scenery. But you'll get used to it here. We all did," she finished.
She took a sip of her water bottle and watched as Bella stared off in the direction of the Cullens. "Has Angela told you about them?" she said not even bothering to say their name.

OOC: Woohoo - Post 200! Bella half-laughed at Jessica’s comment about coming to like Forks eventually, she couldn’t really see it happening, but she knew that to admit that would be rude. Instead, she played along with Jessica’s conversation.
“Yeah, Phoenix was definitely different - moving to Forks has been a bit of a shock to the system. I‘m sure it‘ll be loads of fun after all this crazy ‘new-girl hype‘ has blown over.”
Bella blushed a little as Jessica noticed her subconscious glance towards the Cullens’ table. She nodded and dragged her eyes away from them to focus on Jessica and Angela once more. “Yeah, she was saying that they’re all adopted or fostered by the same people - and that Edward and Alice are in our grade…”
She trailed off, her mind returning to their unusual looks which were already imprinted upon her mind without her having to look at them again. A strange sensation of butterflies assaulted her stomach as she wondered whether she would have a class with either of them that afternoon.

Jessica smiled a somewhat fake smile. She knew that Bella was going to have a fascination towards them, they were ridiculously good looking, especially Edward. So she decided to elaborate more to make it clear.
"Yeah Edward and Alice are in our grade. No one really talks to them much. They kind of keep to theirselves. But they look kind of like..weird anyway. Though I'm not going to lie Edward is gorgeous. But totally off limits. There's no way he'd go for any girl in this school," she said.

Much to her dismay, Bella felt the colour on her cheeks steadily increase as Jessica appeared to warn her off her fascination with the Cullens.
“Oh,” she said, for the want of anything better or wordier to say. Her chocolate eyes bounced between Jessica and the Cullen table as she tried to apply the new information to the distant teenagers. She felt that curious desire to get to know the ’weird’ ones rise as Jessica insisted that they were off limits. How intriguing! Why did they keep to themselves so much? She considered, ruefully, that if they were going to open up to anybody then she would be the least likely person, but a small smile invaded her lips as she imagined it happening anyway.
“Why not?” she asked, curiously, wondering whether Jessica herself had been shot down by them before.

"Oh I don't know. I mean everyone talks to me pretty much and they just don't. I've tried talking to Edward before but he practically ignores me for no reason. I couldn't have a clue why really. Like I said, they're just..different," she said.
She knew that Bella was going to be interested in the Cullen's, she figured Edward would just shoot her down like every other girl too.

“Oh,” Bella repeated, hating the fact that she was sounding somewhat like a person with half a brain.
On the other hand, the information slowly clicked into place. So Jessica had been rejected by the youngest and only single Cullen boy. That made her oddly respectful of him. It wasn’t that she had anything against Jessica, in fact, she seemed like a nice, normal teenager, but the truth was that most teenage boys accepted any pretty girl that flattered their egos. It seemed like Edward was different. It did rule out her ever being friends with him, though, there was nothing special to Bella Swan, but it made him interesting. She turned back to Jessica.
“I’m sure it was nothing to do with you,” she soothed, with a smile, trying to flatter her ego slightly - she could tell that any rejection would hurt this girl.

Jessica shrugged and brushed it off. "Yeah not like I care very much. There are other guys here anyway. Ones that are actually normal," she said.
As soon as she mentioned normal guys she instantly thought of Mike Newton. She had always known him but lately she had seen him a different light, but not like she was willing to admit that to anyone. And as far as she had seen today it was like Mike had taken a liking to Bella, she could use this to her advantage.

Bella grinned at Jessica a little, trying to appease her slightly, though she couldn’t understand why not wanting to interact with others was ’weird’. However, that didn’t seem to be a line of thought that would take well with Jessica, so Bella didn’t even attempt to pursue it. From what she had seen, the other ’normal’ guys at Forks High were just like the ones in her school in Phoenix, only less tanned. They really held no interest for her, not in a bad way, she just figured that there must be something more to love to grab her attention. Even to want to flirt, really. That was the reason she put on having never had a boyfriend - what was the point if you didn’t mean it? It seemed that a lot of teenagers but all their energy into dating needlessly, it didn’t make sense to Bella, though.
Having said that, it did open up a new avenue for conversation with the popular girl. Just as she had met other boys like the ’normal’ ones in Forks High, so Jessica Stanley appeared to be exactly like the ’normal’ girls in her old school, and she knew how to interact with them. She put on a slightly more excited expression, opening up her grin.
“So are there any normal boys you have your eye on right now?”
